Myrl Dean Dickman, 91, of Postville, Iowa died Sunday, January 15, 2017 at the Good Samaritan Society, Postville, Iowa. Myrl was born on May 26, 1925 to Irwin and Bertha (Willman) Dickman on the home farm east of Postville. He was baptized September 10, 1925 and confirmed March 17, 1940 at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Postville, Iowa. Myrl attended country school through the eighth grade.
Myrl was united in marriage with Eunice Irene Doerring on January 26, 1950 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Postville, Iowa. Together they farmed east of Postville, raising hogs and chickens and milking dairy cows. They retired in 1989 and moved to Postville. He was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Postville and enjoyed traveling, eating out, fishing and going to the boat.
Myrl is survived by his wife of sixty-six years, Eunice Dickman of Postville, Iowa; sister, Donna Mae Plaht of Postville, Iowa; brother-in-law, Roland (Marlene) Doerring of Elkader, Iowa; four sisters-in-law, Rose Marie Doerring of Monona, Iowa, Inez (Dwayne) Moon of Luana, Iowa, Maxine Morch and Elaine Doerring; and several nieces and nephews.
Myrl was preceded in death by his parents, Irwin and Bertha Dickman; and four brothers-in-law, Marlin Plaht, Leo Morch, James Doerring and Oliver Doerring.
Funeral Services will be at 2:00 pm on Thursday, January 19, 2017 at Good Samaritan Society in Postville, Iowa with Deacon Pat Malanaphy as the Officiant. There will also be a one hour visitation before services at the Good Samaritan Society on Thursday.
Burial will follow at the Postville Cemetery in Postville, Iowa.
