Sandra Rae Ruckhaber, 80, of Luana, Iowa died Tuesday, April 4, 2017 at her home. Sandra Rae was born December 21, 1936 in Kansas City, Missouri. She was adopted by John and Willie Kunz.
Sandy was united in marriage with John Cleon Ruckhaber on October 28, 1961 at United Methodist Church, Monona, Iowa. Sandy loved horses and teaching others to ride. She was very active in Strides in Decorah, Iowa, a physical, mental and spiritual program with horses. Her passion was to educate people about their horses. Sandy was inducted into the Iowa Volunteer Hall of Fame for 4H. She was very active in the Forest Mills United Methodist Church. Being a fifty year cancer survivor, she was also active with the Relay For Life Event. She enjoyed doing leather work at craft shows.
Sandy is survived by her daughter, Suzie Wright of Granbury, Texas; two grandchildren, Melissa (Hayden) Martin of Granbury, Texas and Colter Wright of Granbury, Texas; one great-grandson, Ryder Martin; She had many many special friends.
Sandy was preceded in death by her husband, James Ruckhaber on September 1, 2008; parents, John and Willie Kunz; and a sister in infancy.
Visitation will be held from 4-8 pm, Monday, April 10, 2017 at Schutte-Grau Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Postville, Iowa. There will also be a one visitation before services at the church on Tuesday.
Funeral Services will be at 10:30 am on Tuesday, April 11, 2017 at Forest Mills United Methodist Church, rural Postville, Iowa with Pastor Kim Gates as the Officiant.
Burial will follow at Smithfield Cemetery, rural Allamakee County.
