Angeline Garvey, 91, of Monona, Iowa died Sunday, November 5, 2017 at Elkader Care Center, Elkader, Iowa. Angeline Hope was born January 5, 1926 to Daniel and Anna Zunitch in Long Island, New York. She was baptized in Jersey City, New Jersey and confirmed in Long Island, New York. Angeline attended Flushing Academy in Flushing, New York.
Angeline was united in marriage with Thomas Francis Garvey on February 22, 1946. She was a nurse for thirty-seven years, working for St. Judes Children’s Hospital in California and as a corporate head nurse at Goodwill Industries. She enjoyed helping special needs children at Fairview State Hospital in California and working in labor and delivery for many years.
Angie is survived by her three children, Jeff (Lisa) Garvey of Santee, California, Tim Garvey of Moreno Valley, California and Eileen (James) Briggs of Whitefish, Montana; five grandchildren, Justine Garvey, Melissa Garvey, Matthew Garvey, Brittnie Landsgard and Carlie Briggs; four great grandchildren, Lillian Landsgard, Eoghan, Tiernan and Sunniva Garvey.
Angie was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Francis Garvey in 1996; her parents; and brother and sister-in-law, Daniel and Madeline Zunitch.
Memorial Services will be at 2:00 pm on Friday, November 10, 2017 at Leonard-Grau Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Monona, Iowa with Deacon Pat Malanaphy as the Officiant. There will be a one hour visitation from 1-2 pm at the funeral home before services on Friday.
Burial will be at a later date.
