Dean Fredric Schultz, Monona, Iowa, January 28, 2018

Dean Fredric Schultz, 88, of Monona, Iowa died Sunday, January 28, 2018 at Mercy Hospital in Dubuque, Iowa. He was born on May 4, 1929 at home in Monona, Iowa to Fred and Louise (Jarms) Schultz. Dean was baptized on May 6, 1929 by Pastor Daugs and confirmed in the Lutheran Faith at St. Paul Lutheran on January I 0, 1943. He attended Monona Public School and graduated in 1946.

Dean was united in marriage with Mary Ann Nelson on June 18, 1950 at West Clermont Lutheran Church, Clermont, Iowa. To this union four children were born. Dean was active in his Church, teaching Sunday School and serving on various committees. He was an avid fisherman and hunter, but his first love was for his family and Church. He had many hobbies but woodworking was his favorite. He built many pieces of furniture for his family, never refusing a request for a new item from a family member.

Dean is survived by his children; Barbara Schultz of Nantwich, England, David (Jan) Schultz  of Dubuque, Iowa, LuAnn (Wayne) Wachsmuth of Mt. Prospect, Illinois and Tim (Julie) Schultz of Nevada, Iowa; ten grandchildren, Dawn Moore of Halifax, England, Laurie (Richard) Harrison of Nantwich, England, Erin (Craig) Hales of Heysham, England, Kara (Tim) Rysavy  of St. Cloud, Minnesota, Anna (Cole) Taggart of Urbandale, Iowa, Abby (Pat) Mclnerney of Aurora, Colorado, Ali Schultz of Clive, Iowa, Kelly (Kevin) Tenney of Arlington Heights, IL, Caleb (Megan) Wachsmuth of Franklin, IN, and Elyse Wachsmuth of Mt. Prospect; great-grandchildren, Jacob, Isaac and Niah Farrar, Ella and Austin Harrison, Nathan, Nicolas and Simon Rysavy, and Reese, Bennett and Finn Taggart, and Miles and Nora McInerney; sister-in-law, Yvonne (Richard) Franks; two nephews, Gary Nelson and Jim Nelson; and three nieces, Kathy Rear, Karen Amundson and Lynn Nelson.

Dean was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Ann in 1998; his parents, Fred and Louise Schultz; a brother-in-law, Arthur Nelson Jr.; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Arthur and Nora Nelson; and one grandson, Joshua Wachsmuth.

Visitation will be held from 4-8 pm on Friday, February 2, 2018 at Leonard-Grau Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Monona, Iowa. There will also be a one hour visitation before services at the funeral home on Saturday.

Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 pm on Saturday, February 3, 2018 at Leonard-Grau Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Monona, Iowa with Rev. Mel Harris as the Officiant.

Inurnment will be held at a later date.
