Roger Lee Mohning, 75, of Monona, Iowa died Friday, May 11, 2018 at Crossing Rivers Health Systems in Prairie du Chien, Wisconsin. Roger Lee was born October 18, 1942 to Foster and Laura (Rodas) Mohning in Garnavillo, Iowa. He was baptized on November 15, 1942 and confirmed on March 25, 1956. Roger graduated high school in 1960 from Garnavillo, Iowa. He attended one year of college in Carthage, Illinois.
Roger was united in marriage to Julaine Palas on April 29, 1962 at Peace United Church of Christ in Elkader, Iowa. Three sons were born to this union. Roger farmed south of Monona, Iowa for many years and was a Pioneer Seeds salesman. He was actively engaged in his church and community. Roger served on numerous boards and committees. In 2011, Roger became a charter member of Faith Lutheran Church. Most of all Roger was a man of faith, a loving husband, father and grandfather. His greatest pride was his grandchildren.
Roger is survived by his wife of fifty-six years, Julaine Mohning of Monona, Iowa; three sons, Rodney of McGregor, Iowa, Randy (Teri) of Altoona, Iowa and Rory (Charmion) of Houston, Texas; seven grandchildren, John, Joe, Foster, Adalia, Blake (Beth), Libby (Corey) and McKenzie(Jesse); eight great-grandchildren; brother, David Mohning (Suzanne) of Brentwood, Tennessee; sister in law, Bobbi Mohning of Garnavillo, Iowa and many nieces and nephews.
Roger was preceded in death by his parents, Foster and Laura Mohning; one brother, Keith Mohning; and grandson, Joshua Mohning.
Visitation will be held from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm on Tuesday, May 15, 2018 at Leonard-Grau Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Monona, Iowa. There will also be a one hour visitation before services at the church on Wednesday.
Funeral Services will be at 11:00 am on Wednesday, May 16, 2018 at Norway Lutheran Church in St. Olaf, Iowa with Rev. Marshall Hahn as the officiant.
Burial will be at 2:00 pm on Wednesday, May 16, 2018 at St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery, Monona, Iowa.
