Krisinda “Kris” Hanson passed away on Saturday, December 8, 2018, after a courageous battle with cancer. She was 58. Kris died at her West Union home surrounded by her family. She was born on July 7, 1960 to Harry and Elaine Henry of West Union. Kris graduated from North High in 1978. On June 23,1990, she and Blaine Hanson were united in marriage at Zion Lutheran Church in West Union. This marriage was the beginning of a wonderful life.
As we celebrate Kris’ wonderful life, it is only fitting that the house resonates the sounds of her beloved Hallmark movies, as the tree with the meticulously placed ornaments twinkles in the window. The sound of A Clay Aiken Christmas serenades in the background, much to Blaine’s disdain. Her love of Christmas, while impressive, did not come close to her love of family. Traveling, camping, flea markets, craft shows, reunions, backyard barbeques; any time spent with loved ones was the highlight of her life. Her greatest moments include grinning shamelessly as she placed your marble back into the home spot during an intense family game night. There is comfort in knowing that she is enjoying her morning coffee with the sun shining on her face, as she scrolls the latest Facebook news feed. Her faithful dog, Henry, is keeping watch down here as Blaine tells him that he’s known all along about the “secret treats” she had been giving him. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and admired her beautiful life.
She is survived by her husband, Blaine, and the seven children they share: Timothy (Ashley) Hanson of Castle Rock, CO, Tamara Rema of Dyersville, Christopher (Adriana) Hanson of Kansas City, MO, Cassey (Kory) Kuhens of West Union, Dusty (Bridget Purdy) Hanson of Cazenovia, NY, Alyssa (Jacob) McDonald of La Porte City, and Daniel (Megan) Hanson of Elgin; seven grandchildren: Trey, Tanner, Hailey, Brittney, Logan, Madison, and Chandler; her father, Harry Henry of West Union; five sisters: Kelly Milano of Denver, CO, Kim Rose of Westgate, Karla Michel of Oelwein, Konnie Will of Hazleton, and Kandy Stenseth of Calmar; one brother, Kyle Henry, of West Union.
She is preceded in death by her mother.
Memorial services will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 13th at the United Methodist Church in West Union. The Rev. Chris Ebbers will officiate. Friends and family may call two hours before services at the church.
The Burnham-Wood-Grau Funeral Home in West Union is assisting the family.
