\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong>Kay Melinda Troester<\/strong>, 71, of Elkader, IA, died Monday, October 26, 2020,at Mercy Medical Center in Dubuque,\u00a0 surrounded by her family,\u00a0 due to complications from cancer.\u00a0 She was born on April 21, 1949, in rural Edgewood, Iowa, to Kenneth and Maxine (Otterbeck) Weyant.<\/p>\n On April 20, 1968, Kay was united in marriage to Richard Troester of Elkader.\u00a0 For over 40 years, they farmed together and raised registered Guernsey cattle.\u00a0 After retiring and moving to town, Kay enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, traveling to Virginia, going to her grandchildren\u2019s ball games, watching the Iowa Hawkeyes, and tending to her flowers.<\/p>\n Kay will be forever loved and cherished by her husband of 52 years, Richard; children Madonna (Steven) Wellendorf and Darren (Mary Ann) Troester; grandchildren Nikki (Tim) Smith, Brandon Wellendorf, Allison Wellendorf, Trinten Troester, Bryce Troester, Emily Troester, Lily Troester and Dylan Troester; great-grandchildren Kahne Bolsinger, Kameron Bolsinger, and Koulter Smith.<\/p>\n She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, Keith Weyant, and two grandchildren.<\/p>\n Graveside Service: 11:00 am on Thursday, October 29, 2020, at East Side Cemetery, Elkader.<\/strong><\/p>\n Due to Covid-19, we ask everyone to continue physical distancing and wear a mask if you plan to attend.<\/strong><\/p>\n Leonard-Grau Funeral Home & Cremation Service of Elkader is assisting the family with arrangements.<\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" \u00a0\u00a0Kay Melinda Troester, 71, of Elkader, IA, died Monday, October 26, 2020,at Mercy Medical Center in Dubuque,\u00a0 surrounded by her family,\u00a0 due to complications from cancer.\u00a0 She was born on April 21, 1949, in rural Edgewood, Iowa, to Kenneth and Maxine (Otterbeck) Weyant.
