\"\"Gregg Gene Frieden, 55, of Elkader Iowa passed away on Thursday January 28, 2021, at his home after battling lung cancer. Gregg was born August 18th,<\/sup> 1965, in Manchester Iowa. He grew up in Littleport, Iowa, son of Doug and Lerene (Thein) Clinton. Gregg had four siblings; Brad, Colleen, Tracy and Branch.\u00a0 He graduated from Central Community High School in 1983 at Elkader, Iowa.\u00a0 Following graduation he worked at a factory in Prairie Du Chien, Wisconsin, but found his career working road construction for Fred Carlson Co. Carlson\u2019s changed hands a few times, but Gregg stayed with the company, now called Croell, until he could no longer work in 2020.<\/p>\n

Gregg found love in 1988, with Linda Bente and was married March 6th<\/sup> 1993. With this marriage Gregg stepped up to be the dad he didn\u2019t have to be and adopted Linda\u2019s two children, Ryan and Katie, which made their family whole.<\/p>\n

Gregg loved nothing more than being outdoors. He was always hunting, fishing, trapping, camping or running around in the woods.\u00a0 You could always count on a story about how his hunting or fishing trips went, though he always liked to embellish on how many fish were caught and how big they were. Especially on the camping trips and deer camps with his brothers and family. I\u2019m not sure anyone will ever admit the shenanigans that took place on those trips. Gregg was a \u201cjack of all trades\u201d. There was nothing that he couldn\u2019t do from helping build houses, top to bottom,\u00a0 working on cars and trucks, building roads, woodworking, processing his own deer and so much more.<\/p>\n

Gregg enjoyed playing cards, but you had to watch him closely as he was always trying to pull a fast one. He would never admit that he was cheating, even though everyone knew he occasionally did. Gregg always watched the Packers. He would have loved to see them pull out a win this year.\u00a0 But above all else, he loved his family.\u00a0 His kids and grandkids could always light up his face with a big smile.<\/p>\n

Survivors include his wife Linda of Elkader Iowa; son, Ryan Frieden of Elkader Iowa; daughter,Katie\u00a0 (John) Whittle; \u00a0one grandson, Carter Kline; \u00a0two granddaughters, Kaylee Kline and Avery Whittle of Inver Grove Heights Minnesota; mother, Lerene Clinton of Elkader Iowa; two brothers, Brad (Brenda) Frieden and Branch Clinton of Edgewood Iowa;\u00a0 siste,r Tracy Clinton of Grimes Iowa; brother-in-law, Jeff ( Lisa) Bente of Strawberry Point Iowa;\u00a0 sisters-in-law, Sandra Berger of Volga Iowa, Janis Rodas of Edgewood Iowa, Donna (Ron) Moore of Glen Haven, Wisconsin, \u00a0and many cousins, nieces and nephews.<\/p>\n

Gregg was preceded in death by his father, Doug Clinton; sister, Colleen Frieden; grandfather and grandmother, Loraine and Bernice Thein; mother and father-in-law, Lloyd and Kate Bente; brothers-in-law, Ed DeShaw, Dwight Rodas, Jim Berger and sister-in-law Carol Koppes.<\/p>\n

Per Gregg\u2019s last wishes, there will be no services. He wants to be remembered as the fun loving, prankster outdoors man that he was. \u00a0Condolences and memorials can be sent to Wife Linda and Son Ryan at 29615 Galaxy rd.
