Joyce\u00a0was born in\u00a0Dubuque, IA\u00a0on\u00a0October 6, 1956 to Earl Joseph Streif and Leona Catherine (Fah) Streif.\u00a0Joyce\u00a0graduated from\u00a0West Union High School in 1975.<\/p>\n<p>Joyce\u00a0was united in marriage to\u00a0Robert McFarlane\u00a0on\u00a0November 24, 1979; they were married\u00a042 years.\u00a0 To this union brought four wonderful children, Melissa, Matthew, Monica, and Megan.<\/p>\n<p>Joyce worked as a\u00a0co-owner\/founder of McFarlane Welding and Fabrication for\u00a0over 30 years.\u00a0She\u00a0enjoyed\u00a0spending as much time with her grandchildren as she possibly could.\u00a0 When her children were in school, she loved going to all their sporting events with her husband, Bob.\u00a0 She also enjoyed showing beef cattle with her children and husband. When her own children were done showing she and Bob helped countless other family members and friends show.\u00a0 She\u00a0was also actively involved in the Fayette County Cattlemen\u2019s Association and the Fayette County Fair.\u00a0 Joyce was a strong woman who did not let her sickness in her later years keep her from enjoying her favorite things in life.\u00a0 She loved her grandchildren with every ounce of her being and they loved her.\u00a0 During our FaceTime or phone calls she often said \u201cI miss my grandkids, oh and you too!\u201d.\u00a0 There never was a more loving, caring, hardworking, genuine, and selfless person.\u00a0 She would do anything for anyone and always put others first.\u00a0 She also was not a pushover, she would speak her peace when the occasion arose and when she did you listened.<\/p>\n<p>Joyce\u00a0is survived by her husband\u00a0Robert of Randalia, IA, children Matthew (Shelly) McFarlane, Edwardsville, IL, Monica (Joel) Eakins of Cedar Rapids, IA and Megan Riniker of Oelwein, IA.\u00a0 Grandchildren Maeve and Ainsley McFarlane, Oliver Eakins, Alissa and Jameson Riniker.\u00a0 Siblings Mary Trewin, Kathy Beane, Duane Streif, Michael Streif, Paul Streif, Dale Streif, Gary Streif, several amazing nieces and nephews, and other family and friends.<\/p>\n<p>Joyce\u00a0is preceded in death by\u00a0infant daughter Melissa, parents Earl and Leona Streif, siblings Tom Streif, Lawrence Streif, Jack Streif, Barbara Peterson, Nancy Streif, Helen Streif, Grace Kamaus and Diane Lueder.<\/p>\n<p>The family of\u00a0Joyce McFarlane\u00a0wishes to thank\u00a0Sharon Comer for her sleepless nights with Joyce, all the family and friends that visited and helped us during Joyce\u2019s final days.\u00a0 Thank you to Gundersen Palmer Lutheran Hospice for the care they provided.<\/p>\n<p>Visitation will be held from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm with a 7:30 pm Rosary on Friday, July 30, 2021 at Burnham-Wood-Grau Funeral Home and Cremation Service in West Union, Iowa. There will also be a one hour visitation before Mass at the church on Saturday.<\/p>\n<p>Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 am on Saturday, July 31, 2021 at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Fayette, Iowa with Rev.
