Lynn Rae Elliott, 69, of Postville, Iowa, passed away on Tuesday, August 23, 2022, at Mercy One Hospital in Dubuque, Iowa, after a long battle with cancer.<\/p>\n
Lynn was born on March 18, 1953 in West Union, Iowa to Raymond and Dorothea Brockway of Hawkeye, IA. Lynn was baptized on June 7th, 1953.\u00a0 Lynn grew up on the family farm with her 4 siblings (3 brothers, 1 sister).\u00a0 She graduated from North Fayette High School in 1971.\u00a0 After graduation, Lynn worked for Baur & Kloster Accounting and Tax Services in downtown West Union. She work there as a bookkeep for 44 years until she retired in 2015.<\/p>\n
She was united in marriage to Daniel Elliott on April 30, 1977 at Zion Luthern Church in West Union, Iowa. To this union, two children were born Travis and Nickolas in Postville, Iowa.\u00a0 The couple raised their family in Postville and lived in the same house for most of their marriage.\u00a0 One of her fondest memories was a trip with Dan to Alaska, where they took breathtaking photos of the scenery. The couple often traveled together to visit bucket list scenic sites.<\/p>\n
Lynn enjoyed working in the flower beds around her house.\u00a0 She would spend hours caring for her flowers so they would look beautiful when they bloomed.\u00a0 Spending time with her family was very important to Lynn. She enjoyed getting together with family for holidays and special occasions. Christmas was one of Lynn\u2019s favorite holidays.\u00a0 Her greatest joy in life was her 3 grandchildren.\u00a0 She rarely missed any activities that they participated in.\u00a0 She also loved to have her grandchildren over to her house to bake cookies and cakes, play games, watch movies, have sleepovers, and enjoy each other’s company.\u00a0 When Lynn was not gardening or spending time with family you could find her rooting on her favorite team the Iowa Hawkeyes.<\/p>\n
Lynn is survived by her husband of 45 years, Daniel, of Postville, Iowa; one son, Travis (Kelly) Elliott of West Union, Iowa; her grandchildren, Peyton, Kendall, and Shay Elliott. She is also survived by three brothers, Allan (Sharon) Brockway of West Union, Iowa; Kevin (Sue) Brockway of West Union, Iowa; and Dean (Teri) Brockway of West Union, Iowa; and several nieces and nephews.<\/p>\n
Lynn was preceded in death by a son, Nickolas Elliott; her parents, Raymond and Dorothea Brockway; a sister, Deborah Anderson; a sister-in-law, Denise Liddle.<\/p>\n
A Memorial Visitation will be held from 9:00 am to 10:00 am on Friday, September 9, 2022<\/strong> <\/em>at Schutte-Grau Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Postville, Iowa.<\/p>\n A Celebration of Life will be at 10:00 am on Friday, September 9, 2022<\/strong><\/em> at Schutte-Grau Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Postville, Iowa with John Elliott as the Officiant.<\/p>\n A Private Family Burial will be held.<\/p>\n Schutte-Grau Funeral Home and Cremation Service of Postville, Iowa is assisting the family with arrangements.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" Lynn Rae Elliott, 69, of Postville, Iowa, passed away on Tuesday, August 23, 2022, at Mercy One Hospital in Dubuque, Iowa, after a long battle with cancer.
