Betty was born on August 4, 1930 to Edward and Minnie (Gillitzer) Jenson. Betty attended school through the 8<sup>th<\/sup> grade and then stayed home to raise her six younger siblings so her parents could work.<\/p>\n<p>Betty married Virgil Johanningmeier on June 25, 1950. To this union three daughters were born. Betty worked at various factories, she worked until the age of 78, at Northern Engraving until the factory closed. Virgil and Betty owned and operated the Red Baron Bar and Saloon in McGregor, Iowa for 8 years.<\/p>\n<p>Betty enjoyed doing puzzles, gardening, cooking, playing euchre with friends, going out to eat with a group of ladies and drinking a cold Busch Light. She was known for her large garden and the large vegetables it produced.<\/p>\n<p>Betty is survived by her three daughters, Linda (Butch) Shaw of Marquette, Iowa, Barb Doyle of Monona, Iowa and Sandra Johanningmeier (fianc\u00e9 Shane Kinley) of Waterville, Iowa; grandchildren, Terry (Vanessa) Picha, Robin (Dan) Larson, Tonya (Lee Herbert) Beck, Jake (Kelly) Shaw, Travis (Cierra Snitker) Shaw, Nick (Hannah) Doyle, Jennifer Johanningmeier, Jamie (Aaron) Schroeder, April Boots and Robert (Tara Cheeseman) Jones, Andy (Tara Moore) Jones; and numerous great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; and brother John Jenson.<\/p>\n<p>Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Virgil Johanningmeier; parents, Edward and Minnie Jenson; granddaughter, Shannon Jones; siblings, Walter, Fred, Bernie, Stanley and Shirley.<\/p>\n<p>A Celebration of Life will be held from 11:00 am to 3:00 pm on <span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>Saturday, June 22, 2024<\/strong><\/span> at First Lutheran Church Swede Ridge, McGregor, Iowa with Pastor Gary Hatcher as the Officiant.<\/p>\n<p>Inurnment for Betty and her husband Virgil will follow at First Lutheran Church Cemetery, McGregor, Iowa.<\/p>\n<p>Leonard-Grau Funeral Home and Cremation Service of Monona, Iowa is assisting the family with arrangement.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Betty Mae (Jenson) Johanningmeier, 93, of McGregor, Iowa passed away Sunday, March 10, 2024 at Great River Care Center in McGregor, Iowa.
