\"\"Lucy Patricia Yeomans, 88 of Prairie du Chien, Wisconsin passed away Thursday, June 13, 2024 at her home. Lucy was born October 6, 1935 to Perry and Helen (Hubbard) Wahl in Harvey, North Dakota. After earning her Bachelor of Science in education from UW-LaCrosse, Lucy taught English for 42 \u00bd years.\u00a0 She began her teaching career at Bagley and West Grant High Schools.\u00a0 The final 40 years of her teaching career, Lucy spent at Prairie du Chien High School.\u00a0 She loved teaching English and was blessed to teach many generations of families in Prairie du Chien.\u00a0\u00a0 Public education was her passion and she cherished the many colleagues she was fortunate to work with.<\/p>\n

On August 31, 1957, Lucy was united in marriage with Richard Floyd Yeomans. \u00a0They had one daughter, Jane Yeomans-Wonderling.\u00a0 Lucy and Rich began dating their sophomore year in high school.\u00a0 When Rich returned from the Navy and Lucy graduated from UW-LaCrosse they were married at St. Peter\u2019s Lutheran Church and cherished 66 years together.\u00a0 \u00a0They enjoyed spending time on the river with their friends, family and their poodle, Thumper.\u00a0\u00a0 Lucy and Rich took many trips throughout Wisconsin, flying their private plane to Door County and visiting airshows.\u00a0 Once retired, they traveled to Europe visiting France, England, Italy and Germany.\u00a0\u00a0 Lucy was very proud of her Norwegian heritage and she loved their trip to Norway.\u00a0 \u00a0Her greatest joy was spending time with her family, especially her daughter Jane and two grandsons, Dillon and Kirk. As a family they made many fond memories traveling to Disney World, Hawaii and Keystone, Colorado.\u00a0 Lucy\u2019s passion was music; she played the french horn and clarinet in the school band.\u00a0 She began piano lessons at the age of four and started playing the church pump organ when she was six years old.\u00a0 Lucy played the organ and piano at St. Peter\u2019s Lutheran Church for over 75 years.<\/p>\n

Surviving Lucy is her beloved husband, Richard Yeomans of Prairie du Chien, Wisconsin; daughter, Jane (Tom) Yeomans-Wonderling of Fennimore, Wisconsin and her two grandsons, Dillon Yeomans Petrowitz and Kirk Yeomans Petrowitz. She was preceded in death by her parents, Perry and Helen Wahl and her siblings, Priscilla Schmidt and Larry Wahl.<\/p>\n

A Celebration of Life will be held at 10:30 am on Thursday, June 20, 2024 at Thornburg-Grau Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Prairie du Chien, Wisconsin.<\/p>\n
