She was baptized and confirmed at the Community Presbyterian Church in Postville.\u00a0 Marjorie graduated from Postville High School in 1946.\u00a0 She attended college at the University of Dubuque, University of Iowa, and Winthrop College in Rock Hill, South Carolina.<\/p>\n<p>Marjorie was united in marriage with Roger Ayers on November 9, 1948 and was later divorced.\u00a0 Two sons, Gilbert and LeRoy were born to this union.\u00a0 She was then united in marriage with Edwin Hamme on January 17, 1967 in Rock Hill, South Carolina.\u00a0 Marjorie worked in the chemical laboratory for Celanese Corporation in Rock Hill, South Carolina.\u00a0 After five years of working swing shifts in the lab, Marjorie quit for a few months.\u00a0 She was then rehired by Celanese to work in their office in Charlotte, North Carolina.\u00a0 In 1985, she took an early retirement and moved with Ed to the Wilmington, North Carolina area to be close to Ed\u2019s family. She didn\u2019t like sitting around, so she ended up with a full-time job with the New Hanover County Building Inspection Department.\u00a0 After Ed\u2019s health started to fail in 1990, Marjorie stopped working.\u00a0 She and Ed took a cruise to Bermuda in May of 1990 and he passed away in January of 1991.\u00a0 Marjorie moved back to Iowa in 1994.<\/p>\n<p>Marjorie was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church and the Deborah Circle in Postville, Iowa.\u00a0 She was also a member of the Henderson Prairie Study Club, the Red Hat Society, and various quilting and senior citizen groups.\u00a0 She enjoyed quilting and sewing, reading, and collecting pigs and thimbles.\u00a0 One of her cherished memories was the 100 Year Civil War Grand Reunion picnic on the Dale Delight farm.\u00a0 Marjorie was recognized for the quilt she made honoring her great-great uncles for their service in the war.<\/p>\n<p>Marjorie is survived by her son, Gilbert Ayers of Madrid, Iowa; two grandchildren, Stacie (Chad) Alleger and Kenneth Ayers; six great grandchildren; one brother, Keith (Verta) Kerr of Postville, Iowa; two sisters, Geraldine Meyerhoff of Waterloo, Iowa; and Peggy Hart of Fayette, Iowa; a sister-in-law, Norma Kerr of West Union, Iowa; and several nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews.<\/p>\n<p>Marjorie was preceded in death by her husband, Edwin; one son, LeRoy Ayers; her parents, Kenneth and Joyce Kerr; one brother, Donald Kerr; a sister and brother-in-law, Dorothy and Gilbert Livingood; and two brothers-in-law, Willard Meyerhoff and John Hart.<\/p>\n<p>Visitation will be from 9-11 am on Friday, April 7, 2017 at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Postville, Iowa.<\/p>\n<p>Funeral Service will be at 11:00 am on Friday, April 7, 2017 at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Postville, Iowa with Rev.
