\"\"Mary Ann Roach, 88, of West Union, Iowa<\/strong> passed away Saturday, June 3, 2017 at Traditions in West Union, Iowa.<\/p>\n

Mary Ann (Lockwood) Roach was born February 16, 1929 in Valentine, Nebraska to Lewis and Ann Elizabeth (Hill) Lockwood.\u00a0 The family moved to a farm outside of Fayette, Iowa.\u00a0 Mary Ann attended country school and graduated from Fayette High School, where she was their first Homecoming Queen.\u00a0 She then attended nurses training in Des Moines and began a long career as an RN, caring for patients locally at Palmer Memorial Hospital, and then the West Union Medical Clinic until her retirement.<\/p>\n

Mary Ann married Matthew \u201cMick\u201d Roach in Fayette on April 11, 1953.\u00a0 They enjoyed fifty-seven years together until his death in 2010.\u00a0 Together they raised four children.\u00a0 She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother.<\/p>\n

Mary Ann was talented in sewing, crocheting, and knitting, and shared her creations with friends and family.\u00a0 Even in her later years, visitors were sent home with a dish cloth that she had knitted.\u00a0 She loved animals, birds, gardening, and the Chicago Cubs. She had a very strong faith and was a member of Holy Name Catholic Church.<\/p>\n

Survivors include two daughters, Colleen (Dwight) Ohrt and Barb Van Horn (fianc\u00e9, Rob Casey) and two sons, Stephen Roach and Mike (Judy) Roach, all of West Union.; four grandsons, Wade Crowe, Matthew Crowe, Andy (Alison) Roach, and Eric Van Horn; two granddaughters, Katie Roach and Monica Van Horn; two sisters, Helen Scheidel and Fran Popenhagen; one brother, Robert (Ruth) Lockwood; two sisters-in-law, Elizabeth (Lane) Ash and Deborah Roach; and several nieces and nephews.<\/p>\n

She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, her brother, Harold Lockwood, and several brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.<\/p>\n

Funeral Services<\/strong> will be held at 10:30 am Thursday, June 8, 2017 at Holy Name Catholic Church in West Union.<\/p>\n

Visitation<\/strong> will be held at 4:00 until 7:00 pm on Wednesday, June 7, 2017 at Burnham-Wood-Grau Funeral Home in West Union and one hour before services on Thursday at Holy Name Catholic Church in West Union.<\/p>\n

\u00a0Interment <\/strong>will be held in Mt. Calvary Cemetery in West Union, Iowa.<\/p>\n
