Betty Jean Orvis McMahon, 87, of Elkader, passed away Monday, August 14, 2017, at the Elkader Care Center. She was born September 22, 1929, to Vern and Lilly (Olson) Trudo in Postville. She graduated from Postville High School with the class of 1947.<\/p>\n
She married Dean Orvis on November 2, 1947, at Norway Lutheran Church. One daughter was born to them. Betty worked as a medical transcriber for many clinics around the country. She enjoyed gardening and reading; however, spending time with her family was what she loved most of all.<\/p>\n
Betty Jean is survived by her daughter Dianne (Rick) Ackley of Dubuque; two grandchildren, Dave Ackley (Mary Hollenbeck) Michelle (Barney) Grobstick all of Dubuque; four great-grandsons, Nick Ackley, Zach Grobstick, Andrew Ackley and Carter Grobstick; one sister, Lavonne (Merv) Mabb of Postville; one brother, LaVern Trudo; and Special Friend, Boyd Rodamaker of Elkader.<\/p>\n
She was preceded in death by her parents; and in 1969, her husband, Dean.<\/p>\n
Betty\u2019s family would like to thank the Elkader Care Center and Hospice of Comfort – especially Jean, for the care and comfort given to Betty. A very special thank you to Boyd, who was a God send to all of us!\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n Graveside services will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, August 19, 2017, at Norway Lutheran Cemetery, rural St. Olaf with Rev. Marshall Hahn officiating.<\/p>\n
