Harlan Owen Patrick, 63, of Elkader, passed away Saturday October 21, 2017, at his home in Elkader, Iowa. \u00a0Harlan (Harley) was born on July 13, 1954, in West Union, Iowa to Earl and Helen (Lauer) Patrick. He grew up and attended Central Community school in Elkader and graduated in 1972.<\/p>\n
Harley was united in marriage to Joyce Hemby on September 2, 2000, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Elkader, Iowa.<\/p>\n
Harley liked his carpentry work and worked at Elkader Wire. The couple built their own home – but he refused to do the plumbing.\u00a0 He enjoyed softball and visiting with everybody. Harley was a member of the Jaycees, helped with Elkader Days and serving with the Lions club.<\/p>\n
Harley is survived by his wife of seventeen years, Joyce Patrick of Elkader; step-son David Hemby of Garnavillo; brother, Edmund (Melissa) Patrick, of Elkader; nieces, Heather Patrick and Christie Edwards; nephew, Ben Patrick; sister-in-law, Joyce Patrick of Jacksonville, FL;\u00a0 brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Dan (Sue) Moser\u00a0of Omaha, Nebraska,\u00a0 Richard Moser of Elkader, \u00a0Mike (Cinda) Moser of Elkader\u00a0and Rev. John Moser Lansing; uncles and aunts, Lloyd (Dianna) Patrick, John (Paula) Patrick; and numerous cousins and friends.<\/p>\n
Harley was preceded in death by his parents, and oldest brother, Gary.<\/p>\n
Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 26, 2017, and one hour before services at Peace United Church of Christ in Elkader, Iowa.<\/p>\n
Memorial Service will be at 11:00 am on Friday, October 27, 2017, at Peace United Church of Christ, Elkader, Iowa with Rev. Jon Haack officiating.<\/p>\n
Leonard-Grau Funeral Home and Cremation Services is assisting the family with arrangements.<\/p>\n
