Betty June Schlueter, 73, of Luana, Iowa died on Friday, October 20, 2017 at Veterans Memorial Hospital, Waukon, Iowa. Betty June was born on April 29, 1944 to Walter William and Wilhelmina Amanda Elizabeth (Henry) Stewart in McGregor, Iowa. She graduated from MAR-MAC High School in 1962.<\/p>\n
Betty was united in marriage with Harlan Schlueter, they later divorced. After the divorce she relocated to Two Rivers, Wisconsin to be near family.\u00a0\u00a0 She retired from Kewaunee Nuclear Plant and moved back to Iowa in 2006 to be closer to her family here.<\/p>\n
Betty loved having her grandchildren and great grandchildren stop by to see her. You could find her sitting in her driveway visiting with neighbors and surrounded by the homeless cats in Luana that made their way to her place because they knew there was food and shelter. She will be missed dearly by her companion, DD, who never left her side.<\/p>\n
Betty is survived by her children, Coleen (Dan) Martins of Luana, Iowa and Thad A. Schlueter of Oelwein, Iowa. Grandchildren, Adam (Brianna) Martins, Drew (Whitney) Martins, Bailey Martins and Kaitlyn\u00a0 Heying. Great-granddaughters, Brooklynn and Peyton Martins.\u00a0 Two brothers, Fredrick Stewart of Monterey, California and Terry Stewart of Two Rivers, Wisconsin.<\/p>\n
Betty was preceded in death by her parents Walter and Wilhelmina Stewart; a brother, Walter Stewart Jr. and one sister, Elizabeth Breckler.<\/p>\n
Per Betty’s wishes no services will be held.<\/p>\n
Leonard-Grau Funeral Home and Cremation Service of Monona, Iowa is helping the family with arrangements.<\/p>\n
