{"id":3867,"date":"2017-10-26T13:41:51","date_gmt":"2017-10-26T18:41:51","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/graufuneralhomes.com\/?p=3867"},"modified":"2017-10-31T08:38:17","modified_gmt":"2017-10-31T13:38:17","slug":"willet-miller-clermont-iowa-october-26-2017","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/graufuneralhomes.com\/lab\/2017\/10\/willet-miller-clermont-iowa-october-26-2017\/","title":{"rendered":"Willet Miller, Clermont, Iowa, October 26, 2017"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-small_image wp-image-3909 alignleft\" src=\"http:\/\/graufuneralhomes.com\/lab\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/Miller-Willet-news-pic-250x309.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"250\" height=\"309\" srcset=\"https:\/\/graufuneralhomes.com\/lab\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/Miller-Willet-news-pic-250x309.jpg 250w, https:\/\/graufuneralhomes.com\/lab\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/Miller-Willet-news-pic-243x300.jpg 243w, https:\/\/graufuneralhomes.com\/lab\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/Miller-Willet-news-pic-768x949.jpg 768w, https:\/\/graufuneralhomes.com\/lab\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/Miller-Willet-news-pic-750x927.jpg 750w, https:\/\/graufuneralhomes.com\/lab\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/Miller-Willet-news-pic-400x495.jpg 400w, https:\/\/graufuneralhomes.com\/lab\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/Miller-Willet-news-pic-68x84.jpg 68w, https:\/\/graufuneralhomes.com\/lab\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/Miller-Willet-news-pic.jpg 800w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 250px) 100vw, 250px\" \/>Willet was born March 5, 1928, to William and Gussie (Kuppan) Miller.\u00a0 He was baptized and confirmed at West Clermont Lutheran Church and he graduated from Clermont High School in 1945.\u00a0 In 1948 he married his childhood sweetheart Lois Olson.<\/p>\n<p>The Millers began farming in 1948 and established a registered dairy herd called \u201cWilomi Holsteins.\u201d\u00a0 Willet and Lois were the first farmers in Fayette County to be recognized as total cooperators with the Soil Conservation Service.\u00a0 In 1978 his son Christian purchased their farm and Willet began working as a claims adjuster for Farmer\u2019s Mutual and Grinnell Mutual Insurance Company until he retired in 1990.<\/p>\n<p>Willet became a Mason in 1970.\u00a0 In 1971 he joined the Shrine and the Northeast Iowa Shrine Motor Clowns.\u00a0 He purchased a unicycle on his 46<sup>th<\/sup> birthday and performed as \u201cWheelie\u201d the clown.\u00a0 Willet rode in a total of 763 parades throughout the years, helping to raise funds for the crippled and burned children\u2019s hospitals.\u00a0 He was also a member of Clowns of America, International Unicycle Assn, Unicycle Society, and \u201cOn One Wheel.\u201d\u00a0 He acquired skills of juggling, tight wire walking, diesel sticks, roller balls, unicycle on the tight wire, and was a master with balloon sculpturing.<\/p>\n<p>He was active in the Republican Party and served as Fayette County Chairman, District Delegate, State Delegate, and a Regan Delegate in the 1976 Republican Convention.\u00a0 Willet loved nature and described the beauty and magnitude of nature with poetry.\u00a0 He also wrote many humorous poems describing actual events.\u00a0 He had a keen wit and loved puns that the grandkids called \u201cGrandpa Jokes.\u201d Willet was an avid sports fan and made countless trips to Chicago to see the \u201cWait till next year\u201d Cubs.\u00a0 He was also a big fan of the Chicago Bears, Iowa Hawkeyes, and local schools.\u00a0 He enjoyed watching family members and grandchildren participating in sports. Another highlight was skydiving on his 80<sup>th<\/sup> birthday.\u00a0 His greatest love was his wife Lois and his entire family.<\/p>\n<p>Willet will be missed by Lois, his loving wife of 69 years, five children; Leslie (Pauline) Miller, of Ames, Paul (Carol) Miller of Clermont, Christian (Stephania) Miller of Clermont, Caroline (Kevin) Bemiss, of West Union, David (Karen) Miller of Clermont,\u00a0 his sister Augusta Jensen of West Union, 17 grandchildren; Zach (Amanda) Miller, Sarah Miller, Jennifer (Mike) Elsbernd, Lisa (Matt) Grimm, John (Amber) Miller, Christopher (Kate) Miller, Alissa (Charlie) Gunsolly, Marcel Coco, Anton (Jarka) Coco, Patrik Coco, Laura (Tim) Remus, Andrew (Dani) Haskenhoff, Kedrick Bemiss, Jenna Bemiss, Kjerstin Miller, Rebecca Miller, and William Miller, 16 great grandchildren; Elsa, Sylvia, Thorin, Bryce, Kaelyn, Layla, Brenna, Liam, Alyssa, Ben, Ava, Ian, Filip, Jozefina, Camden and Lennon.\u00a0 He was preceded in death by his parents William and Gussie Miller, and two sisters; Beryl Swenson and Mildred Habeger.<\/p>\n<p>In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials that will be given to the Shrine Hospital and West Clermont Lutheran Church.<\/p>\n<p>Visitation will be on Friday, November 3, 2017 from 4-7 pm at West Clermont Lutheran Church, Clermont, Iowa with a one hour visitation before services at the church on Saturday.<\/p>\n<p>Funeral Services will be at 11:00 am on Saturday, November 4, 2017 at West Clermont Lutheran Church, Clermont, Iowa with Pastor Phillip Olson as the Officiant.<\/p>\n<p>Schutte-Grau Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Clermont, Iowa is helping the family with arrangements.<\/p>\n<p>Condolences may be left with: www.graufuneralhomes.com<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Willet was born March 5, 1928, to William and Gussie (Kuppan) Miller.\u00a0 He was baptized and confirmed at West Clermont Lutheran Church and he graduated from Clermont High School in 1945.\u00a0 In 1948 he married his childhood sweetheart Lois Olson.
