Dick was born on April 20, 1932 to Albert and Iona (Jarchow) Schnor in Wadena, Iowa. He went to country school until the eighth grade. Dick then went to help with the family farm near Volga, Iowa. At the age of twenty, Dick Joined the United States Army and served in Korea for eighteen months. He was in the 6<sup>th<\/sup> Armed division where he built tent kits and cleared mines.<\/p>\n<p>In his first union of marriage to Betty Crippen in 1958, they had four children, Steven, Scott, Shelly and Sandy. They later divorced. Dick was blessed with another child, Lonnie. Dick was then united in marriage with Sandy Christensen on October 4, 1975. Together they had one child, Krissy. Sandy also brought a daughter, Heidi, into this union. Over the years, Dick worked for many farmers and also worked for Glen Nims in Clermont and for Gary Mihn in Fort Atkinson as a mechanic for many years. Most recently Dick worked for Bemiss Dis. Co. as a mechanic and was an all-around handy man. Dick\u2019s hobbies included making bird houses, light houses and jewelry.<\/p>\n<p>Dick is survived by his wife, Sandy; daughter, Krissy (Buck) Bodensteiner; son, Steven (Valeria) Schnor; son, Scott (Pauline) Schnor; daughter, Sandy (Jim) West; daughter, Shelly (Ted) Roth; son, Lonnie (Amy) Teepe; step-daughter, Heidi (Phil) Wiley; eighteen grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.<\/p>\n<p>Dick was preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Iona Schnor; brothers, Virgil and Francis; sisters, Verta Mae, Ruthie, Alberta and Lois; sisters-in-law, Sharon and Sherry; and brothers-in-law, Gene, Red and John.<\/p>\n<p>Visitation will be held from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm on Friday, January 4, 2019 at Bethel Presbyterian Church in West Union, Iowa. There will also be a one hour visitation before services at the church on Saturday.<\/p>\n<p>Funeral Service will at 1:00 pm on Saturday, January 5, 2019 at Bethel Presbyterian Church, West Union, Iowa with Rev. Don Best as the officiant.<\/p>\n<p>Burial will be at a later date.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Burnham-Wood-Grau Funeral Home and Cremation Service of West Union, Iowa is helping the family with arrangements.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Richard \u201cDick\u201d Schnor, 86, of West Union, Iowa died Tuesday, January 1, 2019 at Good Samaritan Society in West Union, Iowa.
