Deloris passed away on May 31, 2019 at All Saints Assisted Living\/Memory Care in Madison, Wisconsin at the age of 93.<\/p>\n<p>Deloris was a social, cheerful person who always saw the best in everyone. She enjoyed dancing, especially the waltz and polka. \u00a0She accepted a marriage proposal from Olvin Olson at White Springs dance hall in McGregor, Iowa on a lovely evening in 1945 when he was home on leave from the Army\/Air Force. \u00a0They were married on October 22, 1950 at Marion Lutheran Church, Gunder, Iowa.\u00a0 They had one daughter, Vicky, and a son, Bradley, who was stillborn at birth. \u00a0Deloris loved children and was a 3<sup>rd<\/sup> grade Sunday School teacher at Marion Church for many years. She worked on countless quilts for Lutheran World Relief, enjoying that time with her many friends. Her beautiful handiwork of many types will live on in our lives.<\/p>\n<p>Deloris was a strong woman widowed at age 49 when Olvin died of a heart attack.\u00a0 She fought breast cancer and won.\u00a0 Her house near Gunder was a source of pride and she spent hours mowing lawn, gardening and tending her flowers.\u00a0 She worked at Postville Turkey Products, and then after she was widowed, began working at the St. Olaf Coop Grocery Store, a job she loved. \u00a0She took care of her mother, Lena, for nine years after the death of her father &#8211; only 6 months after Olvin\u2019s death. \u00a0Deloris made her three grandchildren feel like each one was the most special person on earth.\u00a0 After retirement she did some traveling including a special trip to Norway with Vicky, yearly retreats to Door County, and some bus trips with John\u2019s mom. \u00a0She took great pride in her Norwegian heritage, and kept traditions such as lefse and lutefisk (to the chagrin of her grandchildren and son-in-law) alive when the holidays rolled around. At age 89, Deloris came to Mt. Horeb and lived with Vicky and John for 2\u00bd years until her dementia needs became too great.\u00a0 Home then became All Saints Assisted Living and Memory Care.<\/p>\n<p>Deloris is survived by her daughter, Vicky, son-in-law John Rosenbaum and three grandchildren, Stacy (Anup) of Chicago, Illinois; Kari of Fitchburg, Wisconsin and Ryan (Grace) of Madison, Wisconsin.\u00a0 She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.<\/p>\n<p>She was preceded in death by her husband; infant son; her parents; two sisters, Lavanda (Floyd) Thompson and Donna (Bud) Butikofer; five brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, and several other relatives and close friends.<\/p>\n<p>Hers was a life well lived with love, compassion and faith. She made the world a better place with her smile. \u00a0May you now waltz with Dad in heavenly peace and love.<\/p>\n<p>Visitation will be Wednesday, June 5, 2019 from 5-8 pm at Leonard-Grau Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Elgin, Iowa and one hour before services at the church on Thursday.<\/p>\n<p>Funeral Services will be at 11:00 am on Thursday, June 6, 2019 at Marion Lutheran Church, Gunder, Iowa with Rev. Marshall Hahn as the Officiant.<\/p>\n<p>Burial will follow at Marion Lutheran Church Cemetery, Gunder, Iowa.<\/p>\n<p>Memorials may be gifted to Marion Lutheran Church, P. O.
