John \u201cJack\u201d Moyna, 85, of Elkader,<\/strong> was born on April 21, 1934, in Strawberry Point, Iowa, to the parents Katherine \u201cMcCormick\u201d Moyna and Cecile Moyna.\u00a0 After an amazing 85 years of life, he passed away on\u00a0October 24, 2019.<\/p>\n Throughout John\u2019s 85 years of life, he has left us with a legacy that will live on forever.\u00a0 John was the President of C.J. Moyna & Sons, Inc. for over 50 years.\u00a0 He denied that he was retired, and his ritual was to go out to the shop daily and share his wisdom with everyone.\u00a0 The only difficulty he had was in most years of \u201cretirement\u201d he would run out of vacation time because of all his travels.<\/p>\n John loved to travel.\u00a0 From 1953 \u2013 1956, he served in the U.S.Army as a heavy equipment operator.\u00a0 One of his goals was to go to Germany to serve his country, and the other was to bring home a German wife.\u00a0 A success he was\u2026. He met Erika Schoenfeld in 1954, and she became his wife of 63 years, their love was one that was of the ages.\u00a0 John\u2019s last words were to make sure and tell my mother that he loved her.<\/p>\n John\u2019s second love was his family.\u00a0 His wife survives John, and Linda Moyna and John Bush, Fairbank, Iowa, Sue, and Mike Robinson, Bartlett, Illinois, John P., and Doris Moyna, Elkader, Iowa, and Tena and Tom Niles, Yelm, Washington.\u00a0 Grandchildren are Brandon and Pam Niles, Lafayette, Louisiana, Sarah and Andrew Avila, Roy, Washington, Carissa Moyna, Ames, Iowa, Katrina Moyna, Elkader, Iowa, Ashley Moyna, Minneapolis, Minnesota, Caitlin Robinson, and Pat Cummings, Chicago, Illinois, Kelsey Robinson, and Brian Cook, Manhattan Beach, California.\u00a0 Great-grandchildren are Thomas Niles, Addison, and Miles Avila.\u00a0 Honorable daughter, Elise Bergan, Edgewood, Iowa. Brother, Mike (Kathy) Moyna of Weslaco, Texas; brother-in-law, Milford \u201cMuff\u201d Koehn of St. Olaf, Iowa, and sister-in-law, Judy Moyna of Elkader, Iowa.<\/p>\n He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Patricia Koehn and brother Jerry Moyna<\/p>\n John\u2019s life was a legacy.\u00a0 He touched the lives of all of us.\u00a0 Either it was advice, lending an ear, helping solve problems, or just giving out a line of \u201cblarney.\u201d His final wish for all of us is to live life, work hard, and to love unconditionally.<\/p>\n The family would like no flowers, instead of a donation to: Elkader Fire and Ambulance, Elkader, Iowa, Camp Courageous, Monticello, Iowa or the John Moyna Memorial.<\/p>\n Visitation<\/strong>: November 1, 2019, 4:00 \u2013 6:30 p.m. at St. Joseph\u2019s Catholic Church, Elkader, Iowa<\/p>\n Prayer service will begin at 6:30 p.m.<\/p>\n November 2, 2019, Visitation: 8:00 \u2013 9:30 a.m. at St. Joseph\u2019s Catholic Church, Elkader, Iowa<\/p>\n Mass of Resurrection<\/strong>: 10:00 a.m. Celebrant:\u00a0 Rev. John Haugen<\/p>\n Inurnment<\/strong> will be held at a later date<\/p>\n Luncheon<\/strong> will be from 11:30 \u2013 4 P.M. at the C.J. Moyna & Sons, Inc. Shop, 4412 Hwy. 13 North, Elkader, Iowa.
