Elizabeth \u201cBetty\u201d Meinert, 79, of St. Lucas, Iowa died Sunday, April 12, 2020 at Good Samaritan Society in West Union, Iowa.\u00a0 Elizabeth was born June 17, 1940 to Norbert and Angeline \u201cSabelka\u201d Riehle in rural Lawler, Iowa. She graduated from Ft. Atkinson High School.<\/p>\n
Betty was united in marriage with Virgil Meinert on September 21, 1968 at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Spillville, Iowa. She helped Virgil on the farm, and enjoyed gardening, growing flowers, embroidering, playing cards with family and friends and taking bus trips.<\/p>\n
Surviving Betty are her siblings, Patricia (Charles) Humpal of Ridgeway and Robert (Bev) Riehle of Winthrop, New York; nieces and nephews, Bronwen and Bill Pope of Nashville, Tennessee, Kaylon and Wen Ling Riehle of Cicero, New York and Acacie\u00a0 Riehle of Nashville, Tennessee and Kesiah and Matthew Stewart of Nashville, Tennessee, Jeremy and Kristi Humpal of Sioux Falls, South Dakota; a god-daughter, Deborah (Jon) Cleveland of Waukee, Iowa; and many cousins and friends.<\/p>\n
Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Virgil on August 12, 2017; and her parents, Norbert and Angeline Riehle.<\/p>\n
A Private Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Luke Catholic Church, St. Lucas, Iowa with Rev. Aaron Junge as the celebrant.<\/p>\n
A Private Family Burial will be held at St. Luke Catholic Cemetery, St. Lucas, Iowa<\/p>\n
Due to state and federal guidance on gatherings due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the family will not be having a public memorial at this time.<\/p>\n
