Brian Carl Stepp, Lebanon, Missouri, July 4, 2022.

Brian Carl Stepp was born February 16, 1961 in West Union, Iowa to Wayne E. and Janet (McKibben) Stepp. He passed away on July 4, 2022 of natural causes. He was 61 years old. Brian attended Fayette Community Schools. He was baptized and united in marriage to Yvette Waterman. Two sons were born to this union, Jacob and Joshua.

In 1980 Brian started working full time at Stepp’s Melon Farm for his brother Wayne A. He stayed on at the farm until his grandfather, Attie, retired and closed the business. After that Brian had a variety of jobs. He called himself a “Jack of all trades and master of none.” Brian could fix almost anything and was a great mechanic.

In 2012 doctors discovered that Brian had a bad heart valve requiring open heart surgery. His health started to decline following the surgery. In 2015 he overcame his addiction to alcohol on his own, without treatment. This was a feat he and all of his family were very proud of. That year he also began doing interior painting with his sister Cheryl and continued until the time of his death.

Brian had a huge heart and always put everyone before himself. He would help anyone that needed it. Brian touched many lives in positive ways. He will be greatly missed by his entire family and many friends.

Brian is survived by his two sons, Jacob and Joshua, both of Fairfield, five siblings, Rose (Steve) Kulish of Utah, Cheryl Peterson of West Union, Wayne (Ellen) Stepp of Fredericksburg, Sheila Kamm of Utah and LeaAnn (Steve) Treloar of Hawkeye, as well as many nieces, nephews and friends.

Brian was preceded in death by his parents Wayne and Janet Stepp, grandparents Fern and Ben McKibben, and Attie and Lottie Stepp, a nephew, Cory Olson and a brother in law, Steve Peterson.

A Celebration of Life will be held Tuesday, July 12, 2022 from 2:00pm– 4:00pm at Volga Lake State Park, Fayette, Iowa.
