Richard “Dick” Spinner, 79, of Lansing, Iowa passed away Sunday, July 15, 2018 at his home in Lansing, Iowa. Richard was born October 11, 1938 to Norbert and Helen (Ferring) Spinner. He graduated from Immaculate Conception School in Lansing, Iowa and attended Loras College for two years in Dubuque, Iowa. Dick joined and honorably served in the United States Army for two years.
Dick was united in marriage with Patsy Clark at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Poplar Bluff, Missouri on November 20, 1971. One daughter was born to this union. Dick worked at Glacier National Park, Montana and also SS Kresge (now Kmart) in Chicago. He then moved back to Lansing and worked with his dad at Armor Industries until his retirement. Dick traveled extensively for business and pleasure and always enjoyed visiting new places. Dick’s passion from an early age was horses. He and Pat enjoyed riding horses with friends in many places, including a favorite spot, Yellow River Forest.
Dick is survived by his loving wife, Patsy Spinner of Lansing, Iowa; daughter, Heidi (Dave) Darling of Richland Center, Wisconsin; three grandchildren, Cole, Easton and Chloe; siblings, Jerry (Eleanor) Spinner of Eagan, Minnesota, Sandy McCurdy of Highlands Ranch, Colorado and Roger (Ann) Spinner of Hugo, Minnesota.
Dick was preceded in death by his parents, Norbert and Helen Spinner; and a special aunt, Betty Ferring.
Visitation will be held from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm on Friday, July 20, 2018 at Thornburg-Grau Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Lansing, Iowa. There will also be a one hour visitation before mass at the church on Saturday.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 am on Saturday, July 21, 2018 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Lansing, Iowa with Rev. John Moser as the celebrant.
Inurnment with Military Rites will follow at Gethsemane Cemetery, Lansing, Iowa.
