Ruby Jones, Prairie du Chien, Wisconsin, January 15, 2017

Ruby Elnora Jones of Prairie du Chien, Wisconsin passed away on Sunday, January 15, 2017 at the Great River Care Center in McGregor, Iowa.  She was born on June 21, 1920 in Marietta Township, Wisconsin the daughter of John and Myrtle M. (Smith) Atkinson.  She graduated from Harris Ridge Country School in 1934.

Ruby was united in marriage to Percy Jones on January 18, 1942 in Wauzeka, Wisconsin.  They later divorced.  She worked at McGregor Loud Speaker. Then she worked as a seamstress at Royal Parlor in Boscobel, Wisconsin, and later at Hobby Stitch in Boscobel, Wisconsin.  She then worked for 3M until her retirement.  Ruby enjoyed sewing, gardening and playing cards.  Most of all, she loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.  She was a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church in Wauzeka, Wisconsin.

Ruby was survived by her daughter, Mary White of Prairie du Chien, Wisconsin; eight grandchildren, Denise (John) Seymour of Monona, Iowa, Melisa Nielsen of La Crosse, Wisconsin, Laura (Herman) Jones of Harpers Ferry, Iowa, April (Brian) Hamann of Harpers Ferry, Iowa, Heather (Miles) Ward of Prairie du Chien, Wisconsin, Terri (Greg) Zielke of Onalaska, Wisconsin, Scott (Karyn) Haun of Plymouth, Wisconsin and Craig (Liane) Haun of Tomah, Wisconsin; seventeen  great-grandchildren, Brandon, Dalton and Nikayla Seymour, Alicia Nielsen, Alyvia Jones, Justin, Adam and Jarrett Hamann, Bryce Ward, Mitch and Dan Zielke and Chandler, Max, Gabe, Brooklynn, Annabella and Jake Haun; three great-great-grandchildren, Sterling Meyer, Lily Howe and Noah Seymour; one son-in-law, Jerry Haun of Cashton, Wisconsin; one brother, Jim (Mary) Atkinson of Prairie du Chien, Wisconsin; one sister, Judy (Paul) Krachey of Wauzeka, Wisconsin and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Myrtle Atkinson; daughter, Rosie Haun; one sister, Ruth (Joe) Curtis, two brothers, John (Betty) and LaVerne (Virginia) Atkinson and son-in-law, Ed White.

Visitation will be on Thursday, January 19, 2017 from 4-7 pm at the Thornburg-Grau Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Prairie du Chien, Wisonsin.  There will also be a one hour visitation before the funeral at the church on Friday.

Funeral Service will be on Friday, January 20, 2017 at 1:00 pm at St. Paul United Methodist Church in Wauzeka, Wisconsin. Pastor Lynn Schreck will be the officant.

Burial will be in Wauzeka Cemetery, Wauzeka, Wisconsin following the funeral service.
