Clarence Jellings, Clinton, Iowa, May 21, 2017

Clarence Wilbur Jellings, 93 of Clinton died Sunday May 21st at Mercy Hospital in Clinton, Iowa. Clarence was born December 26, 1923 in West Union.

He was the son of Bert and Ruth Wilbur Jellings. Clarence graduated from West Union High School in 1941. On December 28, 1945 he was united in marriage to Carmen Lois Schweinefus at West Clermont Lutheran Church in Clermont.

Clarence worked as a dairy and restaurant inspector starting his career in Postville, then moving to Albert Lee, Minnesota and then in 1966 moved to Clinton, working for the city as a restaurant and food inspector. He retired in 1986.

Survivors include his wife Lois; two daughters, Sharon Harris of Clermont, Rebecca Brendel of Clermont; two sons, Charles Jellings of Indian Hills, Colorado, Christopher (Kareine Goertz) of Ann Arbor, Michigan; two grandchildren, Amy Brendel and Kai Jellings and two great-grandchildren, Sydney and Kyle; one sister, Arleta (Don) Vandersee of Fayette.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Donald and Robert and one sister, Doris Daniels.

Visitation will be from 4-7 pm on Thursday, May 25, 2017 at Emmanuel Lutheran Church, Clinton, Iowa and one hour before services at the church on Friday.

Funeral Service will be 10:30 am on Friday, May 26 at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Clinton, Iowa with Rev. Paul Holmer as the Officiant.

Burial will be 11:00 am Saturday, May 27, 2017 at Gods Acres, Clermont, Iowa.
