Freddie Lee Hogan, Lansing, Iowa, August 31, 2017

Fred L. Hogan, 76 of Lansing, Iowa, died Thursday August 31, 2017 at Mayo Health Systems in La Crosse, Wisconsin. Fred was born November 9, 1940 in La Crosse to Floyd and Elizabeth (Livingston) Hogan. Fred graduated in 1960 from Eastern Allamakee Community School in Lansing and then attended Barber College in Waterloo. He began barbering in 1961, opening his own shop in 1963, from which he retired in 2009.

On September 7, 1963 he was united in marriage with Phyllis Weber at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Lansing. Phyllis, along with the four sons they raised, were always his first priority and greatest source of pride. Fred was an active community member serving on Lions Club, Kiwanis Club, Jaycees, Boy Scouts, and was a founding member of both the Lansing Ambulance Service and City Swimming Pool.  He volunteered in many capacities within the church, including serving as council president. He enjoyed Euchre, baseball, bowling, golf, hunting and bird watching.  Telling jokes and sharing laughs with others brought him great joy.

He is survived by his wife Phyllis; four sons, Todd (Tina) of Janesville, Wisconsin, Tony (Jil) of Story City, Iowa, Kerry (Lisa Voidets) of Stoddard, Wisconsin, and Kyle (Nikki Konkel) of Caledonia, Minnesota; twelve grandchildren, Jessica, Jaclyn, Zach, Ross, Elizabeth, Brett, Carter, Haley, Elena, Whitney, Jordan, and Austin; seven great-grandchildren, and a brother, Ron (Edith) Hogan of Lansing.

Fred was preceded in death by his parents.

Visitation will be Monday, September 4, 2017 from 4-7 pm with a 4:30 pm Scripture Service at Thornburg-Grau Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Lansing, Iowa. There will also be a one hour visitation before Mass at the church on Tuesday.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 on Tuesday, September, 5, 2017 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Lansing, Iowa with Rev. John Moser as the Celebrant.

Burial will follow at Gethsemane Cemetery, Lansing, Iowa.
