Marvin Elmer Charles Mohs Luana, Iowa, September 21, 2017

Marvin Elmer Charles Mohs, son of Elmer and Esther (Doerring) Mohs, was born on April 18, 1932.  He was baptized by Pastor Harold Kumpf and confirmed by Pastor Paul Adix at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Luana, Iowa, He received his education at the Luana Public School and graduated in May 1950.

Marvin was united in marriage to Juanita June Fox on June 5, 1952. He was inducted into the Army on May 6, 1953 and honorably discharged on April 9, 1955. They farmed in the Luana and Postville area for many years. They moved into Luana in 1989. Marvin drove semi for Iowa Turkey Products of Postville. After years on the road, he then took a job with Smitty’s Oil & Tire in Monona to be close to home. Marvin was a lifelong member of St. John’s Lutheran Church and served on Church Council, Cemetery Committee, and several years as church custodian. He loved going to all his grandchildren’s school activities and cheering them on, watching and playing with the great grandchildren, and listening to polka music.

Marvin passed away on September 21, 2017 at the Good Samaritan Home in Postville, IA after a battle with cancer. Preceding him in death were his parents, brother Keith and sister-in-law Fern Mohs, and nephew David Fox.

Surviving is his wife Juanita of 65 years, sons and wives Randy and Susan Mohs of Monona and Terry and Julie Mohs of Postville; grandchildren Chad (Julie) Mohs of Newhall, Brent (Angie) Mohs of Monona, Heidi (Jason) Stoddard of Monona, Holly Mohs of Wadena, Heather (Ryan) Lange of Monona, and Branden (Brooke Nicole) of Cedar Rapids; great grandchildren Jacey Mohs & fiance Mitchell Richards, Laura Mohs, Wyatt, Preston, and Kyra Mohs, Anna, Carter, and Marcus Stoddard, Easton and Bryson Lange, and Jax Mohs; brother-in-law and wife, Ronald and Bunny Fox, special friend Kevin Nuehring who enjoyed having Marvin ride with him in the truck, and a host of many other relatives and friends.

Memorial Services will be held on Wednesday, September 27, 2017, at 11am at St. John Lutheran Church in Luana, Iowa, with the Rev. Harold McMillin officiating.

Visitation will be held from 9am – 11am on Wednesday, September 27, 2017 at the church.

Inurnment will follow with military honors at the St. John Lutheran Cemetery, Luana, Iowa.
