Mark Abildtrup, Marquette, Iowa, October 21, 2017

Mark Eugene Abildtrup, 56, of Marquette, Iowa died Saturday, October 21, 2017 at Unity Point Health Finley Hospital, Dubuque, Iowa. Mark was born October 11, 1961 to Myron and Judy Marie (Spenler) Abildtrup in Des Moines, Iowa. He graduated from Mar-Mac High School in 1980.

Mark was formerly employed at Gencor-Bituma in Marquette, Iowa. In his youth, he enjoyed playing basketball, baseball and softball, and was a very competitive athlete. He enjoyed golfing and reading and was an avid Iowa Hawkeye fan. He also loved spending time with his family and friends.

Mark is survived by his father and step-mother, Myron “Max” and Linda of McGregor, Iowa; two daughters, Dana (Paul) Gordon and Dacia (Kory) Warrington, both of Marquette, Iowa; five grandchildren, Trevor Marcus, Brayden, Koda, Kytlee and Keaton; sister, Julie (Doug) Aksamit of Nebraska City, Nebraska and several step-brothers and sisters; and one nephew, Michael Aksamit.

Mark was preceded in death by his significant other, Julie Elliott Geno; and mother, Judy Abildtrup.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 8:00 pm on Thursday, October 26, 2017 at Thornburg-Grau Funeral Home and Cremation Service, McGregor, Iowa. There will also be a one hour visitation before services at the funeral home on Friday.

Memorial Service will be at 11:00 am on Friday, October 27, 2017 at Thornburg-Grau Funeral Home and Cremation Service, McGregor, Iowa with Rev. Bruce Hanson as the officiant.

Burial will follow at First Lutheran Cemetery (Swede Ridge), rural McGregor, Iowa.
