Audrey D. Escourido, 92, of McGregor, Iowa (formerly of Lakeland, Florida) passed away Wednesday, November 29, 2017 at the Great River Care Center in McGregor, Iowa.
Audrey Jeannette, the daughter of Cebaston Cabot and Clara Lee (McMillan) Douglas, was born September 19, 1925 in Wauchula, Florida. After graduating high school and attending business school, Audrey worked for an insurance agency in New York City, New York. She met Joseph Escourido and the couple was united in marriage on August 24, 1947 at the First Baptist Church in Wauchula, Florida. The couple lived in New York City for many years before moving to Lakeland, Florida in the early 1980’s. Audrey continued to live in Lakeland after Joe’s death in 2014. She moved to Iowa in 2015.
Audrey is survived by her sister, Norma Sue Schultz of Warrensville, North Carolina and many nieces and nephews.
Audrey was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph, who died March 22, 2014; her parents, Cebaston and Clara Douglas, her brothers, Dwight and Carl Douglas and sister, Evelyn Telatnik.
Inurnment will be held in the United Methodist Church Columbarium in Lakeland, Florida at a later date.
In Lieu of Flowers, the family requests that memorials for Audrey Escourido be sent to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, P.O. Box 1000, Dept. 142, Memphis, TN 38148-0142.
