Anita J. Cox, 79, of McGregor, Iowa died Saturday, December 16, 2017 at Crossing Rivers Health Hospital in Prairie du Chien, Wisconsin. Anita June was born June 18, 1938 to Dale and Florence (Wohlford) Warren in Midwest, Wyoming. She graduated from Geneva High School in 1956 and earned her degree from Iowa State University in Home Economics in 1960.
Anita was united in marriage with Larry D. Cox on March 25, 1961 in Geneva, Iowa. To this union three children were born. Anita worked for the County Extension in Independence, Iowa as a Home Economist and was a substitute teacher in Tripoli, Iowa. After they moved to Oskaloosa, she was a secretary to the dietician at William Penn College, taught home economics at Oskaloosa Junior High and also taught home economics at Hedrick Community Schools. They then moved to Reinbeck and she became the Elementary Media Director, moved to Scranton, Iowa and became secretary for a life insurance business, moved to Victor for four years and was the Alternative School Teacher through Grant-Wood Alternative School. They ultimately moved to McGregor, Iowa. Anita worked as the Library Director at the Elkader Public Library. After retiring she worked part time at the Back Stitch Quilt Shop. She enjoyed quilting and sewing in her spare time. She and Larry also enjoyed camping with the Good Sam Backbone Country Camp Club.
Anita is survived by her husband, Larry of McGregor, Iowa; three children, Le Cox of Vinton, Iowa; Karen (Richard) Supper of Norwalk, Iowa and John (Ruth) Cox of Spillville, Iowa; and four grandchildren, Thomas and William Supper and Mason and Payton Cox.
Anita was preceded in death by her parents, Dale and Florence Warren.
Visitation will be held from 4-7 pm on Wednesday, December 20, 2017 at Leonard-Grau Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Monona, Iowa. There will also be a one hour visitation before services at the church on Thursday.
Funeral Services will be at 10:30 am on Thursday, December 21, 2017 at United Methodist Church, McGregor, Iowa with Rev. Deb Parkison as the Officiant.
Burial will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be given to the Living Faith United Methodist Parish and the Elkader Public library.
