James “Jim” Charles Larson, West Union, Iowa, December 4, 2017

 James “Jim” Charles Larson, 75, of West Union, Iowa died Monday, December 4, 2017 at Gundersen Lutheran Hospital, La Crosse, Wisconsin. James Charles was born on June 4, 1942 to Leonard and Mildred (Burt) Larson in Clermont, Iowa. He graduated from North High.

Jim was united in marriage with Patricia Murphy in 1971, they were blessed with three children, Troy, Cheri and Michael. They later divorced. Jim was united in marriage with Elizabeth “Betty” Holthaus on August 20, 1988 at The Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa, they were blessed with one son, Jeremy. Jim proudly served in the United States Army from April 18, 1967 to April 11, 1973.  Jim worked as a crew leader at Northeast Iowa Community Action Corporation. He also was a farmhand for many years at many farms. Jim had a passion for animals, he was known as the “Modern Day Noah.”

Jim is survived by his wife, Betty Larson of West Union, Iowa; four children, Troy (Chris) Larson of Elgin, Iowa, Cheri (Jason) Lensing of West Union, Iowa, Michael (Misty) Larson of Victor, Montana and Jeremy Larson of Oelwein, Iowa; step-children, Amy (Troy) Barness of Ossian, Iowa, Brian (Brenda) Zweibohmer of Ossian, Iowa and Mark (Annette) Zweibohmer of Ossian, Iowa; eight grandchildren; nine step-grandchildren; and siblings, Robert “Bob” (Gayle) Larson, Louis (Jeanie) Larson, Leonard (Rosalie) Larson, Marilyn (Verly) Pollow and Wayne (Janice) Larson.

Jim is preceded in death by his parents, Leonard and Mildred Larson; sister, Marge Brehme; grandchildren, Emma Zweibohmer and Riley Larson; parents-in-law, August and Ethel Holthaus; brothers-in-law, Loren Holthaus and Roger Holthaus.Visitation will be held from 4-7 pm on Thursday, December 7, 2017 at Burnham-Wood-Grau Funeral Home and Cremation Service, West Union, Iowa. There will also be a one hour visitation before services at the funeral home on Friday.

Funeral Services with Military Rites will be held at 10:30 am on Friday, December 8, 2017 at Burnham-Wood-Grau Funeral Home and Cremation Service, West Union, Iowa with Pastor Roland Waterman as the Officiant.

Burial will follow at West Union City Cemetery, West Union, Iowa.
