Jerome Alphonse Fisher, West Union, Iowa, February 16, 2018

 Jerome “Jerry” Alphonse Fisher, 71, of West Union, Iowa died Friday, February 16, 2018 at Gundersen Lutheran Medical Center in La Crosse, Wisconsin. Jerome Alphonse was born on January 22, 1947 to Carl and Lorraine (Huber) Fisher in New Hampton, Iowa. He graduated from Turkey Valley High School in 1965 and attended Upper Iowa University his freshman year. Jerry played football and wrestled in high school and his main interests included industrial arts and art class. He enjoyed working with his hands. He also wrestled at Upper Iowa University.

Jerry worked as a purchasing Agent for Palmer Lutheran Hospital in West Union for over seventeen years, retiring in 1989. He loved the family farm and was very interested in tractors, farm equipment and cars. Jerry was a history buff of all the wars and military hardware. He also enjoyed collecting guns and toy tractors.

Jerry is survived by his five siblings, Jim (Janelle) Fisher of Moville, Iowa, John Fisher of St. John, Michigan, Elizabeth “Liz” (David) Robinson of Ames, Iowa, Marty (Judy) Fisher of West Union, Iowa and Mary (Marty) Miller of West Union, Iowa; sister-in-law, Susan Fisher of Toddville, Iowa; two aunts, Ethel Mae (Kenneth) Schneberger of New Hampton, Iowa and Phyllis Lechtenberg of Ossian, Iowa; twenty-one nieces and nephews; and several great nieces and great nephews.

 Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, Carl and Lorraine Fisher; three brothers, Joseph, Robert and Walter; his nephew, John “J.J.” Fisher; and several aunts and uncles.

Visitation will be held from 9:00 am to 10:30 am on Tuesday, February 20, 2018 at Holy Name Catholic Church in West Union, Iowa.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 am on Tuesday, February 20, 2018 at Holy Name Catholic Church in West Union, Iowa with Rev. Don Komboh as the Celebrant.

A private family burial will be held at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Cemetery in Lawler, Iowa.
