Timothy Bryan Corkery, 75, of Wadena, Iowa died Sunday, February 18, 2018 at the University of Iowa Hospice Unit, Iowa City, Iowa. He was born July 12, 1942 to Nica (Fay) and Bill Corkery in Wadena, Iowa. Tim grew up in Wadena and graduated from Valley High School in 1961. He then went to work at the Fayette County Engineering Office, where he remained until his retirement.
Tim was a very willing supporter of the community of Wadena. He was involved in the Wadena Betterment Association, various other town organizations and was a First Responder. Tim was also the first volunteer for any event or person in need, often involving his wonderful culinary skills to donate something delicious.
Tim was very proud of the fact that he was one of the founding members of the Valley Community Coalition (NFVCC). VCC has been helping the youth of the valley through SODA and Mentoring to make healthy choices for both body and spirit for many years. His passions spilled over into so many causes and hobbies it is hard to mention them all. From Palmer Lutheran Hospital Board to donating time and toys to area libraries, providing treats for all who needed a smile, collecting memorabilia, and giving whatever he could at every turn- he was the definition of generous. Tim was also an avid follower of his Tigers (Tigerhawks) and the Hawkeyes.
Tim is survived by two brothers; Paul (Beverley) Corkery of Dysart, Iowa and Steve (Kathy) Corkery of Wadena, Iowa; sister-in-law, Marilyn Corkery of Marion, Iowa; and many nieces and nephews.
Tim was preceded in death by his four sisters and their husbands; Jeanne (Gene) Singer, Joanna (Don) Vontalge, Barbara (Milton) Vincent and Jane (Jerry) Wheeler; three brothers, William, Charles (IIla Lee) and Ellis (Sharon); and his parents, Bill and Nica Corkery.
