Lucille “Sally” Schaefers, 89 of McGregor, Iowa died Sunday, April 15, 2018 at Great River Care Center, McGregor, Iowa. Lucille Veronica was born to Casper and Mary (Lucher) Schaefers on November 24, 1928 in Clayton, Iowa. She was baptized and confirmed at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Garnavillo, Iowa. Sally attended Garnavillo Catholic School through the eighth grade.
Over the years Sally worked cleaning houses and on her family’s farm as a farm hand. She enjoyed gardening, sewing and embroidery in her spare time. Those who knew Sally well will remember her love for dogs and cats and the joy she took in flowers, tulips in particular. She was steadfast in her faith and enjoyed any opportunity to worship.
Sally is survived by her brother, Leo Schaefers of McGregor; sister, Helen Schaefers of Dubuque; nieces and nephews, Evelyn Petsche, Albert (Jean) Petsche, Leonard Petsche, Julie (Jack) Hensley, and Carl (Beth) Petsche.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Casper and Mary Schaefers; brothers, Ray Schaefers and Eldo Schaefers; and her sisters, Anna May Schaefers, Betty Schaefers (in infancy), Bernice Schaefers, and Irene Petsche.
Visitation will be Friday, April 20, 2018 from 9:30 – 10:30 am with a 10:00 am Rosary at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Parish, Seneca, Wisconsin.
Requiem High Mass will be at 10:30 am on Friday, April 20, 2018 at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Parish, Seneca, Wisconsin with Rev. Father Carlos Borja as the Celebrant.
Burial will be at St. Mary Catholic Cemetery, McGregor, Iowa.
