Edwin David “Bob” Roberts, 82, Monona, Iowa, died Monday, June 18, 2018, at his home in Monona, Iowa. Bob was born on November 13, 1935, in Rome, NY, to Thomas and Helena (Seid) Roberts. He graduated from Rockland High School in Michigan and the Embry – Riddle Aeronautical Institute.
Bob served his country honorably during peace time in England in the United States Air Force from November 17, 1954 to July 23, 1958. Bob lived in Florida for a brief time and then lived in Lansing, MI, from 1960-1999. While living in Lansing, MI, he worked as an Aircraft Mechanic for the Lansing Municipal Airport and for Francis Aviation. He then moved to Monona, Iowa in 1999.
He was united in marriage to Rita Marie Plante and she later passed away. He was then united in marriage to Linda Lou (Doerring) Lestina on August 7, 1999, in West Salem, WI. Bob was a member of the Living Faith United Methodist Parish in Giard, Iowa.
Survivors include his wife, Linda Lou Roberts, Monona; two daughters, Marsha (Brad) Jahnke, Prairie du Chien, WI, Sheryl (Randy) Traetow, Cedar Falls; four grandchildren, Amanda (Kevin) Hancock, West Burlington, Alex Jahnke, Madison, WI, Carrie (Boden) Pradel, Wheeling, IL, Rachael Jahnke (fiancé, Aaron Sherman), Milwaukee, WI; two great-grandsons, Hunter and Luke Hancock; two sisters, Marian Penegor, Sun Prairie, WI, Ann (Richard) Gild, Blaine, MN and many nieces and nephews.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas and Helena Roberts; his first wife, Rita Roberts and five brothers.
Funeral Service with Military Rites will be held on Thursday, June 21, 2018, at 11 am at the Living Faith United Methodist Parish in Monona, Iowa. The Rev. Deb Parkison will officiate.
Visitation will be held from 9 am– 11 am before the service at the church on Thursday.
Burial will take place at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to a church or mission of your choice.
