Alice Nellie Heim, 83, of Lansing, Iowa went to be with the Lord in the early morning of July 1, 2018. She had been a resident of Willow Gardens Care Center in Marion, Iowa for the past month and a half. She was blessed to have all her extended family visit and care for her. Alice was born July 19, 1934 to Sarah Jane Cole and Charles Behrends. She grew up in the Lansing area and attended local schools.
Alice received her CNA Certificate in 1974 and for many years was an in-home care-giver for residents of Waukon and Lansing. She also loved to cook and spent her later years cooking at Sweeney’s On the River. She loved her afternoon sessions playing cards at Shep’s and with other friends for hours every chance she got. In 1950, Alice married Donald Heim. To this union seven children were born.
Alice is survived by her children, Donna Hager, Connie (Tom) Wardenburg, Jeanne Farley, Ron (Peg) Heim, Tim (Kathy) Heim; step-son, Don (Char) Heim; daughter-in-law, Rita Heim; two sisters, Eleanor (Roger) Homewood, Mary (Russell) Bartels; eleven grandchildren; twenty-five great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; her dear best-friend of fifty plus years, Pat and a half-brother, Earl.
Alice was preceded in death by parents; two sons, Steve and Gary Heim; granddaughter, Heather Heim; sisters, Lucille Bennett and Laura Dundee; five brothers-in-law; half-brothers, Kenny and Charles; and one half-sister, June.
She will be greatly missed by the grandkids who she could make laugh without trying, for her love of all sweets and at times her determination and bullheadedness to get what she wanted!

Visitation will be held from 12:00 pm to 2:00 pm on Saturday, July 7, 2018 at Lansing United Methodist Church in Lansing, Iowa.
Funeral Service will be at 2:00 pm on Saturday, July 7, 2018 at Lansing United Methodist Church, Lansing, Iowa with Pastor Sedar Wembonyama and Dawn Coffman as officiants.
Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery, Lansing, Iowa.
