Dr. Ronald Craig Myrom, West Union, Iowa, July 25, 2018

Dr. Ronald Craig Myrom, 76, of West Union, Iowa peacefully went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, July 25, 2018. He was at home, with those who loved him.  Ron was born September 25, 1941 to Arthur M. and Olga Marie (Rustan) Myrom in Long Prairie, Minnesota. Ron graduated from high school in Sauk Center, Minnesota. Ron attended Concordia College in Moorhead Minnesota where he earned his B. A. in Chemistry. He continued his education at the University of Minnesota Medical School in Minneapolis. Dr. Myrom then served his internship at Orange County Hospital in Orange County California.

Dr. Myrom volunteered and proudly served in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War, and was stationed at Mather Air Force Base in Sacramento, California.  Following his service in the Air Force, Dr. Myrom completed his residency with the University of California Davis Medical Center. Dr. Myrom was a member of the Air Force Association for over twenty years.

Dr. Myrom worked at the VA hospital in Walla Walla, Washington for three years and for Davis County Hospital in Bloomfield, Iowa for five years. He and his family moved to West Union, Iowa in 1988 where he served at Palmer Lutheran Hospital for over thirty years, including a tenure as Chief of Staff. Dr. Myrom took great pride and joy in serving the community of West Union and the surrounding areas, and always sought God’s wisdom in the treatment of his patients.

Dr. Myrom is survived by his wife, Michele Myrom of West Union, Iowa; three children, Karen (Gary) Steinhilber, Jeff (Heather) Myrom, and Dan (Hannah) Myrom; five grandchildren, Ryan Steinhilber, Brahm Myrom, Hudson Myrom, Matthew and Ethan Myrom; siblings, Joan (Sam) Jurkovic, Ruth (Tom) Small, Barbara Myrom and Linda (Gary) Lawrence.

Dr. Myrom credits any success he’s had to God, and in large part to his wife Michele, for her patience and support for his work and schooling.

Dr. Myrom was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur and Olga Myrom.

Visitation will be from 4-7 pm on Friday, July 27, 2018 at Zion Lutheran Church, West Union, Iowa.  There will also be a one hour visitation before services at the church on Saturday.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 am on Saturday, July 28, 2018 at Zion Lutheran Church, West Union, Iowa with Pastor Rusty Phillips and Rev. Ginny Olson as the officiants.

Burial will follow at West Union Cemetery, West Union, Iowa.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial may be given to Palmer Hospital Foundation.
