Kenneth Heeren, Lansing, Iowa, July 26, 2018

Kenneth Dale Heeren, 91 of Lansing, died Thursday, July 26, 2018 at Thornton Manor in Lansing.

Kenny was born September 11, 1926 at Sand Springs, Iowa. He was the son of John “Jack” August and Lucille Lang, Heeren. He attended school in Dundee and Onslow, Iowa. Kenny married Barbara Chatterton, they later divorced. He then married Hazel Heim in Decorah.

Kenny dairy farmed for many years and in 1962 he moved to Allamakee County, where he continued to farm. He served in maintenance at Thornton Manor for seven years and at Kee High for eleven years. Kenny enjoyed riding his motorcycle, enjoy spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren with his nightly popcorn and Pepsi outings. He also enjoyed woodworking, remodeling his home and loved talking to people to get to know them.

He is survived by his children; Kathy (Ralph Jr.) Hammel of Dorchester, Gerald (Kathie Anderson) Heeren of Sun City, Arizona, Doug (Mary) Heeren of Mt. Pleasant, Texas, Maralee (Larry) Kraus of Largo, Florida., Randy (Charlane) Sickles of Lansing, Iowa, Jody Ehlers of Postville and Lisa (Chase Hubbard) Rockton, Illinois; nineteen grandchildren and thirty-one great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Hazel; sisters, Edna Schnoor and Gladys Blanchard and a brother Paul Heeren.

Visitation will be held from 4:00 to 7:00 pm on Tuesday, July 31, 2018 at the Thornburg-Grau Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Lansing, Iowa.  There will also be a one hour visitation before services at the funeral home on Wednesday.

Funeral Services will be 11:00 am Wednesday, August 1, 2018 at the Thornburg-Grau Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Lansing, Iowa.

Interment will be at Oak Hill Cemetery, Lansing.
