Shannon Swenson, 48, of Clermont, Iowa died Sunday, July 22, 2018 at Gundersen Health Systems in La Crosse, Wisconsin. Shannon Del was born September 22, 1969 to LaVerne and Grace (Olson) Swenson in Postville, Iowa. He was baptized October 26, 1969 and confirmed October 28, 1984 at West Clermont Lutheran Church and graduated from Valley High School in 1988. Shannon then attended Hawkeye Tech and graduated in 1990 with a Farm Management degree.
Shannon was united in marriage with Heidi Koss in 2003. One son, Korbin, was born to this union. They later divorced. Throughout his life, Shannon was a member of the West Clermont Lutheran Church and a volunteer fireman. He loved spending time at his camper, visiting with family and friends, riding his 4-wheeler on his farm, cheering for the Vikings, Minnesota Twins, Iowa State, and Iowa, and eating TJ’s Pizza. Shannon managed his farm, worked for Schwan’s Food Service, owned and operated a limo service, sold Garst Seed Corn, worked with harvest crews, owned and operated Big Guys Pizza, worked for Brick Oven, owned a hog operation and helped with the family farming operation.
Shannon is survived by his two sons, Isaiah Anderson of Minnesota and Korbin Swenson of New London, Iowa; parents, LaVerne and Grace Swenson of Clermont, Iowa; two brothers, Rick (Marsha) Swenson of Clermont and Marti (Carol) Swenson of Clermont, Iowa; nieces and nephews, Beth (Drew) Gilligan, Jennifer (Dylan) de Bruin, Matthew Swenson, Brock Swenson, Alesha (Andy) Butikofer; great-nieces and great-nephews; Skylar and Teagan Gilligan, Caeden and Ashton de Bruin, Damon, Bree and Owenn Swenson and Lily Swenson; and several aunts, uncles and cousins. Shannon was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Richard and Evelyn Olson and his paternal grandparents, Roy and Viola Swenson.
Visitation will be held from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm on Friday, July 27, 2018 at West Clermont Lutheran Church in Clermont, Iowa. There will also be a one hour visitation before services at the church on Saturday.
A Celebration of Life will be at 11:00 am on Saturday, July 28, 2018 at West Clermont Lutheran Church, Clermont, Iowa with Rev. Phillip Olson as the officiant.
Inurnment will be held at a later date at God’s Acres, Clermont, Iowa.
