Edward Allen Stahl, Lansing, Iowa, August 6, 2018

Edward Stahl, 52, of Lansing, Iowa was called home on Monday morning, August 6, 2018 with his family by his side after his long battle with cancer.  He was born on August 27, 1965 to Allen and Mabel (Rouster) Stahl in Waukon, Iowa. Edward grew up in Lansing, Iowa and graduated from Kee High with the class of 1984. After graduation, Ed went into Army and was a member of 101st Air Born Air Assault Division. He was stationed in Germany and after returning to the states, he was stationed at Fort Campbell in Tennessee.

Ed was united in marriage with the love of his life, Catherine Howe on September 24, 2005 at Our Saviors Lutheran Church. In 2001 he became a police officer for the city of Lansing where he was a role model for the young children. Ed became the Chief of Police in 2007 and continued to serve until health issues forced him to retire. He loved to hunt, fish, camp, ride horses and cook for his family and friends. The past year he found a new passion, making saw dust aka turning beautiful bowls from many types of wood. Ed’s greatest joy was spending time with his grandchildren and the young children in town.

Ed is survived by his wife, Cathy; five sons, Todd (Jessica), Mike (Kelsey), Travis, Nicholas and Cody (Kena); three daughters, Mandy (Ben), Jessica and Cassandra; grandchildren, Kierra, Blayze, Brityn, Keagen, Zayne and Maison; his father, Allen; two sisters, Tina and Michele; three brothers-in-law, Paul, Danny (Tayna) and Jacob (Carissa); three sisters-in-law, Sarah (Bryce), Valeria and Tammy (Brandon); mother-in-law, Beverly; and many nieces and nephews.

Ed was preceded in death by his mother, Mabel; grandparents, Dick and Vernie Stahl and Charles and Geraldine Rouster; father-in-law, Robbie Howe; and many aunts and uncles.

Ed’s favorite saying was “living the dream” and we were all blessed to be a part of it.
