Greta A. Otteson, Prairie du Chien, Wisconsin, August 25, 2018

Greta A. Otteson, 87, of Prairie du Chien, Wisconsin passed away Saturday, August 25, 2018 at Prairie Maison, after a long battle with Alzheimers.  She died peacefully, surrounded by her family.  Greta Arlene, the daughter of Lloyd and Dorothy (DuCharme) Anderson, was born August 7, 1931 in Prairie du Chien, Wisconsin.  She attended St. John’s Parochial School and graduated from St. Mary’s in 1949.

Greta was united in marriage with Kenneth Otteson on September 2, 1950 at St. Gabriel Catholic Church in Prairie du Chien.  Kenneth preceded her in death on July 9, 2015.  Greta was a homemaker for her family and she managed the Gundersen Clinic in Prairie du Chien for thirty-two years.

Greta enjoyed golfing, bowling, playing cards, being on the river with friends and spending time with her family. She was also a longtime member of St. John’s Catholic Church in Prairie du Chien.

Greta is survived by her children, Kris (Del) Maag of Prairie du Chien, Wisconsin; Mark (Tammy) Otteson of Prairie du Chien, Wisconsin; Judith Dowd of Grandberry, Texas; Steve (Ginger) Otteson of Amherst, Ohio; Ellie (Bob) Sirota of Fox Lake, Wisconsin; Scott (Cheri) Otteson of Hudson, Wisconsin; and Eric Otteson of Prescott, Wisconsin; twenty-three grandchildren; twenty-one great grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

Greta was preceded in death by her husband, Ken; her parents, Lloyd and Dorothy; a son-in-law, Dick Dowd; a nephew, David Otteson, and her brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Ernie and Vi Otteson.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday, August 30, 2018 at St. John’s Church of the Holy Family Parish, Prairie du Chien, Wisconsin. Rev. James Weighner will be the Celebrant.

Visitation will be held from 9-11 am on Thursday, August 30, 2018 at the church.

Interment will be held in the Calvary Cemetery, Prairie du Chien, Wisconsin.

In Lieu of Flowers the family requests memorials be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
