Carl Edwin Wagner, 74, of West Union, Iowa died Sunday, December 2, 2018 at Gundersen Lutheran Medical Center in La Crosse, Wisconsin. Carl Edwin was born November 6, 1944 to Carl Aldean and Vera (Fels) Wagner in rural West Union, Iowa. He graduated from North High School in 1963. Carl was in the United States National Guard.
Carl was united in marriage with Mary Jane Elmer on June 20,1970 at Holy Name Catholic Church in West Union, Iowa. He enjoyed helping neighbors, dancing with his wife, Mary at Matters Ballroom, watching Iowa Hawkeye Basketball, doing puzzles and playing cards. He collected old International Tractors and showed cattle at the Fayette County Fair for over fifty years. Carl was a member of the Fayette County Cattleman Board, American Polled Hereford Association, Cattle Sales of Decorah and West Union, Zion Lutheran Church as well as on the church council, and the neighborhood card club.
Carl is survived by his wife, Mary of West Union, Iowa; son, Mark (Maria) Wagner of Millersburg, Iowa; granddaughter, Chloe Wagner of Cresco, Iowa; one sister, Nancy Wagner of West Union, Iowa; aunt and uncle, Delores and Jim Friederich of West Union, Iowa; many cousins, nieces and nephews and his furry friend, Brownie Wagner. His was preceded in death by his parents.
Visitation will be held from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm on Tuesday, December 11, 2018 at Zion Lutheran Church, West Union, Iowa. There will also be a one hour visitation before services at the church on Wednesday.
Funeral Service will be at 10:30 am on Wednesday, December 12, 2018 at Zion Lutheran Church, West Union, Iowa with Rev. Adam Starrett as the officiant.
Burial will follow at West Union Cemetery, West Union, Iowa.
