Leland Dwight Lankford, 76, of New Albin, Iowa died Tuesday, December 11, 2018 at Gundersen Health Systems in La Crosse, Wisconsin. He was born October 18, 1942 to Leland and Ruth (Keene) Lankford in Thompkinsville, Kentucky. Leland graduated from Gamaliel High School and joined the United States Army.
Leland was united in marriage with Mary Darling on December 30, 1961 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in New Albin, Iowa. One daughter was born to this union. Leland worked as a tool and dye maker. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and spending time with his family.
Leland is survived by his wife, Mary Lankford of New Albin; one daughter, Rachel Lankford of New Albin; a granddaughter, Jasmine Lankford of New Albin; brother, Dan (Charlene) Lankford of Gamaliel, Kentucky; and a sister-in-law, Betty Lankford of Gamaliel, Kentucky. He was preceded in death by his parents, Leland and Ruth Lankford; and three brothers, Ronnie, Keith and Michael Lankford.
Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, December 21, 2018 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in New Albin, Iowa with Rev. John Moser as the celebrant. There will be a one hour visitation before mass at the church on Friday.
