Dallas John Valley, Prairie du Chien, January 25, 2019

Dallas John Valley, 82, of Prairie du Chien, Wisconsin died Friday, January 25, 2019 at Crossing Rivers Health Systems in Prairie du Chien, Wisconsin. He conquered cancer and suffered a ten year battle with Parkinsons.   Dallas was born July 28, 1936, the son of Carl and Mary (Koecke) Valley. He was a graduate of Prairie du Chien High School. Dallas served in the United States Army National Guards for over ten years.

Dallas was united in marriage with Nancy Wall Trautsch on June 26, 1987 at St. Gabriel Catholic Church in Prairie du Chien, Wisconsin. He was a true river rat, making a living as a Commercial Fisherman, trapper and clammer. He designed and carved his own decoys. Dallas was also known as the last living person to have worked on the pontoon bridge. Anyone who knew him can agree that he was a great story teller. Dallas enjoyed his daily coffee with friends, painting, hunting for ginseng, coon hunting and attending flea markets and auctions. He enjoyed his daily walks with Lisa and Kit Lessard’s dog Sally Jo. Dallas was a very loving and caring husband, father and grandfather

Dallas is survived by his wife of thirty-two years, Nancy Valley of Prairie du Chien, Wisconsin; children, Lori (Steve) Chipera of Oklahoma and Mike Valley of Prairie du Chien, Wisconsin; step-children, Jason Trautsch of Apple Valley, Minnesota, Tonia (Paul) Obrien of Little Chute, Wisconsin, Kyle (Hannah) Trautsch of Warrens, Wisconsin and Lisa Trautsch of Prairie du Chien, Wisconsin; three grandchildren; ten step-grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; a brother, Donnie Valley of Prairie du Chien; and one sister, Bette (Greg) Beneker of Prairie du Chien, Wisconsin,  brother-in-law Terry Sharp of Marquette and many nieces and nephews.

Dallas was preceded in death by his parents, Carl and Mary Valley; and his sisters, Jeanette Standford and her husband Norman, Sharon Sharp and Virginia Valley.

Visitation will be held 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Friday, February 8, 2019 at Thornburg-Grau Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Prairie du Chien, Wisconsin.  There will also be a one-hour visitation before services at the funeral home on Saturday.

Funeral Service will be at 11:00 am on Saturday, February 9, 2019 at Thornburg-Grau Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Prairie du Chien, Wisconsin with Pastor Andy Doll as the officiant.

Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery, Prairie du Chien, Wisconsin with military honors.
