Marjorie Mae Cook, Marquette, Iowa, January 30, 2019

Marjorie Mae Cook, 91, of Marquette, Iowa died Wednesday, January 30, 2019 at Prairie Maison in Prairie du Chien, Wisconsin.  Marjorie was born June 22, 1927 to Raymond Henry and Winifred (Boyle) Fields on June 22, 1927. When Marjorie was a child, she rode a sled downhill in Marquette, off the bench and walked to school. She graduated from Marquette High School in 1945.

Marjorie was united in marriage with John “Jack” Francis Loetz in 1948 at St. Mary Catholic Church in McGregor, Iowa. He first asked her to marry him in 1946 but she declined.  After the death of Jack, Marjorie was united in marriage with James Edward Cook in November 1981.  Throughout the years, Marjorie worked for Bell Telephone in Dubuque, as a bank teller at Central State Bank and also for the Post Office in Decorah, Iowa. She was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church. Marjorie enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. One of her favorite things to do was get ice cream at the Hudson Bakery in Prairie du Chien and then take a drive up Pikes Peak to look for deer.  She also enjoyed reading and doing crossword puzzles.

Marjorie is survived by her sister, Betty (Don) Schott of Savanna, IIllinois; daughter, Kathleen (Phil)  Schubert of Guttenberg, Iowa; two sons, Gregory Loetz of La Crosse, Wisconsin and Michael (Colleen) Loetz of Cherokee, Iowa; two step-daughters, Denise (Don) Hargarten of EWA Hawaii and Margaret Cook of Chicago, Illinois; five grandchildren, Jason (Jessie) Schubert of Monona, Iowa, Jessica (Michael) Goltz of Monona, Iowa, David (Devin) Loetz of Parkersburg, Iowa, Matthew Loetz of Ft. Collins, Colorado and Nicole (Jake) Glassmaker of Meriden, Iowa; eight great-grandchildren, Jayde and Jordan Schubert, Hunter and Noah Goltz, Parker and Kinzie Glassmaker and Summer and Emily Loetz; five step-grandchildren; and ten step-great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Virginia Fortier; and brothers-in-law, Marlin (Margaret) Cook and Clarence Cook.

Marjorie was preceded in death by her husbands, John “Jack” Loetz and James Edward Cook; parents, Raymond and Winifred Fields; sister, Barbara Cook; brother -in-law, William Cook; and sister-in-law, Joann Brooks

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 am on Monday, February 4, 2019 at St. Mary Catholic Church in McGregor, Iowa with Rev. Nils de Jesus Hernandez as the celebrant. There will be a one hour visitation before mass from 9:00 am to 10:00 am at the church.

Burial will be at a later date at St. Mary Catholic Cemetery, McGregor, Iowa.
