Janet Alice Kuhse, 82, of Postville, Iowa died Monday, February 25, 2019 at Crossing Rivers Health in Prairie du Chien, Wisconsin. She was born on December 2, 1936 to Alfred and Ruth (Dresselhaus) Welper in Waukon, Iowa. Janet was baptized on December 20, 1936 and confirmed April 2, 1950 at Zion Reformed Church in Waukon, Iowa. She attended grade school at Howard School near Waukon and graduated from Waukon High School in 1954.
Janet was united in marriage with Roger L. Kuhse on September 15, 1956 at Zion Reformed Church in Waukon, Iowa. Together with Roger, she lived on a farm south of Postville until October 2015. She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Postville, Iowa, Women of the ELCA, Northeast Iowa Trail Blazers, Clayton County Snowbirds and Bob’s Creek Neighbors Club. Janet worked as a bookkeeper for Hall Robert’s Son in Postville, Iowa. In her spare time, Janet enjoyed traveling, camping, fishing, snowmobiling and playing cards.
Janet is survived by her husband, Roger Kuhse of Monona, Iowa; children, Kevin (Toni) Kuhse of Stoughton, Wisconsin, Todd (Vicki) Kuhse of Covington, Kentucky, Kelly (Debra) Kuhse of Stoddard, Wisconsin and Holly Kuhse of Bellevue, Iowa; daughter-in-law, Mary Kuhse of Camas Valley, Oregon; twelve grandchildren, Amber, Krystle, Jessica, Billy, Malachi, Ezekiel, Ora de lau che, Jennifer, Sara, Jacob, Jeffrey and Joshua; six great-grandchildren, Sierra, Tanner, Jamie, Dominic, Marshall and Isla; two sisters, Lois Evans of Waukon, Iowa and Arlene Ritter of Prairie du Chien, Wisconsin; sister-in-law, Joyce Kuhse of Postville, Iowa; brother-in-law, Donald Kuhse of Postville, Iowa; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Janet was preceded in death by her parents, Alfred and Ruth; son, Joel Kuhse; twin daughters, June and Joan; Roger’s parents, Victor and Evelyn (Koth) Kuhse; sister, Bernice Schrabeck; brothers-in-law, Harris Evans, Bill Ritter, Joe Schrabeck, Dale Kuhse and Clifford Kuhse; and a sisters-in-law, Judy Ann Kuhse and Judie Kuhse.
Visitation will be from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Thursday, February 28, 2019 at Schutte-Grau Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Postville, Iowa. There will also be a one hour visitation before services at the church on Friday.
Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, March 1, 2019 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Postville, Iowa with Rev. Lynn Noel as the officiant.
Burial will follow at Postville Cemetery in Postville, Iowa.
