James Francis “Jim” Hawes, Wexford, Iowa, May 15, 2019

James “Jim” Francis Hawes, 84, of Wexford, Iowa died Wednesday, May 15, 2019 at Veterans Memorial Hospital in Waukon, Iowa. James Francis was born May 18, 1934 to Edward and Lila (Guider) Hawes on the family farm, rural Wexford, Iowa. He attended country school and graduated from Immaculate Conception Catholic School, Lansing, Iowa.

Jim was united in marriage with Catherine” Kay” Ann Callahan on November 26, 1957 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Wexford, Iowa. He farmed his entire life and was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Wexford. Jim loved spending time with his family, friends, and especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He will be greatly missed by the many people who knew him.

Jim is survived by his wife, Kay Hawes of Waukon, Iowa; five children, Don (Julie) Hawes of Montfort, Wisconsin, Ed (Mary) Hawes of Waukon, Iowa, Dianna (Stan) Schwartzhoff of Lansing, Iowa, Pat (Mary) Hawes of Potosi, Wisconsin and Suzanne (Jeff) Gardner of Hudson, Iowa; sixteen grandchildren; and twelve great-grandchildren.

Jim was preceded in death by his son, Joe Hawes; his parents, Edward and Lila (Guider) Hawes; and his siblings, Norbert, Marguerite, Ray, John and Mary Rita.

Visitation will be held from 3:00 pm to 6:00 pm on Sunday, May 19, 2019 at Thornburg-Grau Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Lansing, Iowa.  There will also be a one hour visitation before Mass at the church on Monday.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 am on Monday, May 20, 2019 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Wexford, Iowa with Rev. John Moser, Monsignor Cletus Hawes, Rev. Donald Hawes, Monsignor Ed Lechtenberg and Rev Mark Osterhaus as the concelebrants.

Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
