Marlene Marie (Hogan) Finn of Lansing, IA passed away Thursday the 2nd of May at Gundersen Lutheran Hospital in La Crosse, WI.
Born April 5th, 1941 in Lansing, IA, Marlene was the daughter of the late Marlan Hogan and Sylvia (Pottratz) Hogan (Hegy). She graduated from Lansing Public High School in 1959, where she enjoyed singing, playing the piano, flute and baritone saxophone, horseback riding, water skiing and playing basketball.
Marlene received her nursing degree from the University of Iowa in 1961. She worked at University of Iowa Hospital in Iowa City where she met Dr. William (Bill) Raymond Finn. They married June 27, 1964 at IC Church in Lansing and settled in Cedar Rapids, IA. While living in Cedar Rapids, she was a founding member of the St. Elizabeth Seton Women’s Circle at All Saints Catholic Church and active in Patrons of the Performing Arts at Washington High School. Marlene’s husband passed away in 1999. She returned to her childhood home in 2014.
Marlene was a devoted mother, wife, sister and friend. An avid bridge player, Christmas cookie baker and reader, she took pride in her family and always made certain they knew they were loved. She will be dearly missed by her family and all whose lives she touched.
She is survived by her two children, Kelli Colleen Finn of Gurnee, IL and Michael David Finn of Plainfield, IL; three grandchildren, Kathryn, Matthew and Samuel; brother Colonel (ret) Michael Louis Hogan and his wife Diane of San Antonio, TX, and their three children, Matthew, Sarah and Lisa all of Texas.
She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, stepfather Laurel F. Hegy, stepsister JoAnn (Hegy) Rayburn, sisters-in-law Marsha Schoenberger, Patricia Finn, Shirley Oglesby, Agnes Finn; brother-in-law John “Jack” Finn and parents-in-law, Loras and Mary Ellen (Holdren) Finn.
A Memorial Mass will be held at 11:00 am on Tuesday, May 7, 2019 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Lansing Iowa with Rev. John Moser as the celebrant.
There will be a one hour visitation before mass at the church on Tuesday.
A graveside service will be conducted at 11:00 am on Saturday, June 1, 2019 at Cedar Memorial in Cedar Rapids, Iowa where she will be laid to rest with her husband.
