Eugene “Gene” Theodore Mork, Postville, Iowa, July 13, 2019.

Eugene “Gene” Theodore Mork, 91, of Postville, Iowa died Saturday, July 13, 2019.  He was born March 26, 1928 to Enock Telmer and Selma Jeannette (Gjefle) Mork in Luana, Iowa. He was baptized on May 20, 1928 and confirmed on August 2, 1942 at Marion Lutheran Church in Gunder, Iowa. Gene attended school in Luana and also Postville. Following his schooling, Gene proudly joined and served in The United States Navy for two years. He received the Quilt of Valor in May 2017.

Gene was united in marriage with Lola Beatrice Ewing on May 27, 1950 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Postville, Iowa with Pastor Frederick R. Ludwig officiating. Throughout the years Gene worked for John Deere in Postville, Iowa, a local car garage as a fix it man, at HyGrade and also did carpentry work on his own. Gene enjoyed deer hunting, fishing, spending time at the family farm, wood working, gardening and his daily stops at the Club 51. He loved being with his grandchildren.

Gene is survived by his son, Grant Mork of Postville, Iowa; three grandchildren, Lacey Ward, Stephanie (Richard) Song and Ashley (Chris) Liem; seven great-grandchildren, Kohl, Kenadee, Evly, LulaBelle, Silas, Selah and Zephaniah; siblings, Tennis (Joan) Mork, Phyllis Frieden, Gwen Harris, Bona (Charles) Thorson,  Diane (Marvin) Berg and Carol (Bill) Buckley.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Lola of November 2014; son, Randall Mork in 1998; and his parents Enock and Selma Mork; siblings, Don (Joyce) Mork and Clifton Mork; brothers-in-law, Ray Frieden and Virgil Martins; and one niece, Becky Disheroon.

Visitation will be held from 1-3 pm on Sunday, July 28, 2019 at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Postville, Iowa.

Funeral Service will be at 3:00 pm on Sunday, July 28, 2019 at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Postville, Iowa with Pastor Lynn Noel as the officiant.

Burial and Military Rites will follow at Postville Cemetery, Postville, Iowa.
